I'm getting 10-13 deg of knock  on my car with 10+ pounds of boost according to my scanmaster. My 02 is jumping from 000-800's. I'm running on pump gas with 93 oct. Where do I need to start to get rid of the knock? I also noticed that when it knocks that much it smokes out the tail pipe and it smells like oil burning. So how bad of a sign is this? I just pulled the plugs out about 3 weeks ago and they looked fine, I'm going to pull them tomorrow and see how they look. I got what sounds like a bad lifter tapping on the RH front side of the head. And running 45#'s of fuel pressure with 009 injectors. I did hook up a gauge to the fuel rail and ran it to where I could tape it to my windsheid to see if the fuel pressure goes up or down as I accel and the pressure would go up. If anyone could shed any light on why I got so much knock please help me :( THanks, Jason

ok heres what you need to do. unscrew the radiator cap and put a new car under it.

ok, the cars smokeing, my guss is the rings are shot and that bad lifter noise is most likely a rod knock. in otherwords the above statement would be of some use. or you could just tear in to the engine and see if it needs a rebuild

Your 02's only mean something at WOT. Knock only means something if it keeps getting higher. It could be false knock from the tranny shifting. You'll have to be more specific. Oil in the exhaist , if your positive thats what it is can be a bad turbo, bad rings, intake leak, and prolly some other reasons. I'm not going to tell you to tear apart your motor. Most mechanics would tell you to do a compression and leakdown test before you do that.

The knock is there under acel esp after boost is rising, And when I back off the throttle I get a graish looking smoke and it smells like oil. Could this be a head gasket? I also notice tonight I have oil on my intake around the PCV valve. If my turbo leaks oil how can I tell? If it's rings my plugs should look bad right? I've had the car looked at for the ticking noise and was told by a few techs it's on the top end and is probly a lifter, You can rev up the engine the a ticking gets better it's just at idle when it ticks. I'm new to all this and don't want to blow-up my motor so sorry for all the stupid questions, I just want to get it fixed. Thanks, Jason

They aren't stupid ?'s at all. If you think oil is coming out more than it should I would do a leakdown and compression test. That will tell you if the rings are bad. Are you running a stock chip? I think the smoke you get is unburnt fuel when you let off.(if you are talking about letting off after a hard acceleration) Does it smoke at idle?

I'm running a Jay Carter street chip, It smokes on start up but after it warms up it does not smoke any more.

that sounds like the valve seals, no biggie there. do a compression, cly leakage, and wet test to find out exactly whats wrong. might wana throw in a new pcv valve. your engine might be burping oil in to the turbo bell and be filling the intercooler with oil, do you have a breather by pass kit? i would yank the ic and find out how much oil is down in there. i would imagein if your ic was filled with oil it would cause some kr

if the turbo is using the oil i would imagin that you would find a bit of shaft play. pull your maf pipe and see if you can "wiggle" the impeller.

Well I pulled all the plugs out today and they all look fine no sign of buring oil on the plugs, They look almost a graish white color, So would this rule out piston rings? I took my pcv valve off also and the rubber hose on top of the vale was very hard and the grommet the valve sits in on the intake is also hard, Also a piece of the grommet fell in the intake and I can not get it out will it hurt anything? I took the vacum block off the top of the TB and there was some oil up there is this normal? Thanks, Jason
