Hard to believe the youngest of our cars is now 20 years old. Kind of sad but hey, I dont have to buy tabs anymore! :D

Everybody I work with likes it but the old guys in the car club were confused at first and after explaining it to them, well, it just wasnt funny anymore. :o

I don't get it.
Do you not have to update it every year with a sticker?

I believe it's street slang for,
"Ok, thank you good bye now."

Some states are offering Collector plates where you only have to purchase them once, or every 3 years. It sure would be nice if Indiana would follow suit, especially with the Emissions deal. Chicago area and Ohio just did away with emissions and I'm surrounded by both, but yet, we still gotta do the E check.
Sigh....:(

Nope, once its registered as a collector you no longer have to get tabs and Minnesota does not have emissions so I dont need an emissions sticker either.

Its actually internet slang but yeah, its just "ok thanks bye". :)

Is there a place to go where you can find out if your state offers a collectors plate?

LUCKY!!
I wish we had that here in Ga. Best we can get in an antique plate, but it has to be updated every year. Helps with the insurance (so I'm told) but there is a mileage limitation.

Have fun!!

I would think your local DMV should be able to tell you. I dont know about your state but Minnesota is a hassle to call or find anything on the web about what is offered. I just go to one of the DMV offices that has a front door person and ask them. If they offer it, that person will be able to give you the information about it.

My insurance is dropping so low they told me it had to be an annual policy only. I need to get another appraisal once the weather gets nice and then my insurance savings will kick in. Also, there really isnt a mileage restriction but there is a transportation restriction. Once you have Classic or Collector plates on the car it can no longer be used for general transportation. Stuff like getting groceries or going to work everyday with it would be considered general transportation. I dont do that already but I do like to drive the car. This summer will let me know how much of a hassle this collector plate is. If it gets bad then I will just switch back to a normal plate.

I haven't had a problem yet with my '68 Camaro collector plates......and I've driven it to work a few times...oops....and hell, there's no way they are gonna stop me from going to get groceries with it!

i like the look of the mn. colletor plates, wi. is blue and you can't get personal plates, you get what they sent you. how much are they in mn.?? i think they are $80 here or so i was told.

They were $133.50 and from what I heard $99.00 of that was for the personal message so I guess if I just got normal collector plates it would have cost $34.50.

Correct me if I'm wrong.........but I seem to remember paying $90 bucks for my Camaro..........but, that was a while ago. ..........dayum, I just can't remember!

Maybe they changed the pricing a bit? I always figured it would be a bit over a hundred dollars to get personalized plates so there was no sticker shock for me.

Wi collector plates

I looked last year when my license renewal came and in Wisconsin the collector plates are $160 to get the plate with no renewals and it can't be personalized. The only restrictions in WI that I know of are the vehicle must be 20 years old and the vehicle cannot be driven in January, which guarantees that it isn't a old heap that someone uses as a daily driver.

My classic PA plate was around $100, but it's nice not to have to pay every year now. No emissions for me either, now :)
