In an attempt to help get my car to spool up faster, I installed a 3” single shot exhaust. But I forgot I had a Grainger style boost controller I used on the carbed setup. Now since the carbed setup did not have a Computer controlled wastegate solenoid. I had it inline with the boost signal coming from the outlet of the turbo. When it was on the olds that turbo spooled like a Blower, But I did have a TC that stalled @3200 rpm’s. Before the Grainger style valve I had a bleeder setup and it defiantly spooled slower.

The question is should I hook it before or after the wastegate solenoid on the Grand Nation? I have Jay caters variable timing chip(s) one for the street & one for the strip. So the computer is helping to decide the boost and I would like to keep that function. I what to keep that wastegate closed longer to help build boost. Right Now I am think after the solenoid / Y connector.

I also am switching over to aluminum rims that are about 20# lighter than the stockers (steel) I know this doesn’t help boost, but will lower ET’s. I also found that the passenger side EBrake cable was sticking causing a drag on the passenger side brakes. I was able to free it up and install a set of S10 wheel cylinders; some soft faced shoes and the aluminum drums off the olds. This will also help with the ET’s

Next step will be to find a 3200 stall lockup convertor like the olds had in it (it had a non-lockup).

to use the Grainger valve, get rid of the solenoid and y-hose and hook it up just like on your other car....between the wastegate and turbo

control your boost with the Grainger and wastegate rod
