What is the best choice for TRs? Please give opinions and reasons.

Chris

Chris,

I see alot of real fast guys with the Innovative unit.... but it is $$.

I had considered the MSD unit...it is in the $300 range...completely programmable via laptop.... boost curves and all....

Due to $$ and the fact that my motor is still on the engine stand.... I'll stick to the KISS principle for now. I have a homemade Grainger pop-off valve that I have modified to function similar to a RJC boost controller, but without the ceramic ball..... that will have to do for now.

The innovative is plenty for most full assault TSM-TSO style cars..Ive had one for years and it has served me well.

I was hoping I'd hear from you Louie. I'm still trying to get these pics of the 45a sent to you. I had to get my daughter to help:p

I think the innovative is gonna be the way to go...seems like thats what alot of the big boys have. I saw you post a while back about you liking the turbosmart wastegates. Which one would you recommend?

Thanks for letting me lean on you for info...there are so many choices for parts out there, but only so many of them are in/on cars that run 9.20's.

I should get the turbo pics sent today.

Chris

How fast is the car, what are you wanting the boost controller to do?

Start with the needs.. then move to something that will serve the needs.

Mid 10's on drag radials. I'm wanting to get the car hooked so I don't blow them at 40 feet.

I want to be able to leave at 6-8 lbs (or whatever the track will do on a particular night) and ramp up to 24-25 lbs. in an amount of time that will maximize boost and still provide traction.

I've never had a boost controller so I hope I am expaining my goals well. This seems like a heckuva learning curve.

thanks,Chris

I have a greddy profecB specII and it has a ramp feature. For my needs it gets the job done. And I run an integral gate.. You can go to Greddy - Founded and Driven by Racers and download the user manual.

Ebay has them pretty reasonable.

You get what you pay for. The ANS1000 is the baddest.. and most expensive.

Time to step up to an XFI with traction control!

I've been using the Innovative for the last 5 years and it works great. I do mostly bracket racing and it's been an asset when track conditions arent favorable, helps alot with consistancy

Any time bud. When ever you have a question just PM me. Im always on. I like the Turbosmart for 2 reasons. Its really a 48mm wastegate. More than enough for anything we build. Second its a very efficient design.
