I have grey smoke coming from my valvecover filter when i press the gas it gets worse. The moter only had about 300 miles on a rebiuld. I used mobil 1 senthetic oil when i got it it ran fine. Then a few weeks ago this problem arises. I replaced the pvc valve, did compreesion test the numbers read low 100 on five cylinders and a 95.I changed head gaskets still same problem. How can a fresh biuld have such low compression? does this sound like the rings? Could running to rich cause the rings not to seal or is my engine toast and needs to be torn down to get to the bottom of this smoke. Any advise would be helpful.

You should always use non-synthetic on a first rebuild to get out all the assembly lube. But it might just be the lube getting burned out.

I'm not real sure on how long it takes the rings to seal, but I think you will be fine.
