i want the added power of higher flowing heads, but i wanted to know, are these heads gonna kill my bottom end power? What are drawbacks of these heads?

I've personally never ridden in a GN with squat for bottom end power. My car will bark the tires from a standing idle start if I nail it quickly, has enough convertor I suppose. The spinning stops then resumes when boost comes in.

I think the GN-1's overall improve the motor top to bottom. They aren't HUGE anyway. A set of ported irons can come close to flow against a box stock set anyway.

Disadvantages? They aren't as heavy as steel if you're trying to make a weight break.

So far I can not find any disadvantages with mine. I too can fry 275/50 drag radials if I mat it from a standstill. I have a mild 208/208 cam with a moderatelty sized turbo.

Where did that idea come from? The performance you get from a set of anything depends on how well you tune the engine around the new part(s). Switching from iron to the GN-1 aluminums does several things. The first is obviously a wieght advantage. Lightening the front end improves the car's launching ability. Lightening the car overall allows a given HP level to "push" the car through the quarter mile at faster speeds. The increased valve size and better ports allow the motor to breath better. With a blown engine this doesn't kill power but allows more power to come from the same effort of the engine via less turbulent airflow and more volumetric effeciency. Aluminum is also a better conductor of heat. Thus, this can lessen the occurences of detonation by reducing the presence of hot spots around the combustion chamber.
