Harmonic balancer

Is the harmonic balancer supposed to just slide right off? Or is it supposed to have an interferance fit? Mine just pulled right off and I was told by my father that it shouldn't slide off so easily. (once again).

First it is not a harmonic balancer. Its a harmonic damper and yes it should slide right off . The V-6 Buick stock damper uses a slip fit not a press fit with interference. Dad is right for most other engines, chevy , ford and mopar. Pontiac and Buick use a slip fit. Hope this helps.
