Has anyone tried a crankcase evacuation kit?

I was checking out one of these on a friends Chevelle the other day and was wondering if anyone uses one on their TR? I'm thinking this would be a great alternative to using an electric vacuum pump, but haven't heard of anyone using these. I was thinking of running the breather lines into a Y fitting and then onto the downpipe. Any thoughts?

i am more then likely wrong but i dont think there is enuff volume (flow) after the turbo to make that work. on an NA car that kit works very well. i know more then one mudstain with that kit and it works very well but, like i said i dont think it would for our cars, cause our exhaust is not waste.

In a N/A application there are high and low pressure slugs of gas going down the pipe. It's the low pressure areas, that open the checkvales, and form the suction. On a turbo motor, the turbo averages out the pulsations so there really aren't any low pressure areas, to open the check valves. Given enough flow there might be enough of a low pressure area from the tubing to draw some gas thru the check valves.

I was never really impressed with them, on a N/A car. Seems like with mufflers, they lost alot of their effectiveness, IMO.

I have just bought one of thoes from summit the one i have is also exaust driven I have not had time to install it and im having the same problem you except my oil is being blown out out the breather stacks and it its worse on the passenger side than the driver
it is getting to the point that I dont need to change my oil I just hold the gass down for bout 1/2 mile keep at 15psi and it will blow it out
4 or 5 times doin that and i just add a quart

what Bruce said...it ain't gonna do squat

not enough exhaust to do any good (it goes thru the turbo first...)

actually, the factory setup prolly had it right...using the turbo to evacuate gasses.....if one could get the oil separated from that, it would be good

the evac kit came with two oil separators and two check valvs so it wouldnt really be a problem to have a tube or 2 welded in to the MAF pipe but im not sure how well they work I dont want to blow oil through my intercooler and intake

It will not work. Only works on NA motors. Under boost you will end ud blowing out all your seals. Dont ask me how i know.:( Steve

Sure you dont have a blown headgasket?
Last time i started pushing oil out of the breathers was cause the headgasket was starting to push into the intake valley and under boost would push oil out.

Electric Vac pump from a LS1 car. Works great

I second that. Hook it to a hobbs switch to come on a 5 psi and pull vacuum. Make sure to pull foam pads out of the pump b4 you install.

Directly under the battery. Must have a moroso air tight type valve cover breather (around $50) and a vapor recovery tank to be NHRA legal.

Where do you get one of these pumps?

I may do this on my 502. After every WOT blast the dip stick pops up.
