Just had a ta-49 installed and I believe it has a hd wastegate because the lowest boost I can run is 18-19lbs. When I have someone burn me a street chip for 93 octane can they program the chip to run 15-16lbs of boost or exactly how does that work? Thanks, R.B.

You can program the chip for a boost level, but if the actuator has too much tension, the controller won't be able to lower the boost because of the "default" tension of the spring.
You'll either need a new actuator or an adjustable one.

The hd wastegate is adjustable. Will the chip lower the boost?

With the HD actuator, its difficult to get under 17-18psi boost. The chip cannot make up for that.

Like Radius said, you'll probably need another actuator (a non-HD actuator).

Regards,
Eric

Will the old adjustable one that was on the stock turbo (non hd) work on the ta-49? Thanks, R.B.
