At random, my speedometer reading on my digital dash on my T-type is not working. It does it at random........Fuel level and Trip odometer are fine. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I'd say it's either the connection to the VSS or your speedo cable. It's not the dash itself. The VSS plug is back behind the radio, the cable plugs directly into the dash.

It's not the cable either then. I guess it could be the dash itself, then. I'd call John Spina @ Casper's. The first time mine went bad, the MPH wouldn't read - it was a loose connection at the VSS but I had no MPH reading on the scan tool. Everything worked but the MPH.

Second time it went totally blank, which was the dash itself.

Good luck.

By chance does anne know where I can get a decent Aftermarket Digital Dash? The white faced anologs look nice, but I've always been in love with the old school world of "knight rider" and "AirWolf" kinda instrumentaions. BGC offers one...anyone eles?

Inside the instrument cluster there is a wire to a circuit board that needs resoldering when this occurs. www.casperselectronics.com

Cyberdyne (sp.?) makes one.I hear they are a real PITA to install.

Thanks for the info, it went out completely Thursday. :( Still have fuel level, trip odometer, etc, etc. Thanks

Pulled out the cluster today, and cleaned some connections, it was really dirty back there! The speedo is reading again, but we will see how long that lasts.

Glad you found something! For the archives:

In my case it was a connection on the center of three resistor lookin' thingies.... :D Lets assume they are resistors as I cant even remember now what they looked like.

There is a secondary circuit board with the resistors that smaller than the main board. What I did, and dont recommend unless you refuse to ship it, was to resolder the connections for that resistor and even added a tiny pc of a paperclip. I did that because the hole was huge and with the crappy soldering iron I had it was easier. Got the job done! Lasted a long time but I have since swapped the whole thing out for one with the modded MPH. Aaaalll that because I didnt have ANY money for shipping it away for repairs. I was lucky.

Heh, I WANTED the dig dash.... you couldnt trade me out. Now if you had a dig setup that looked OEM I would be pretty happy.

Thanks for the help though!
