What's up fellas....

I am in the process of removing my headers, downpipe and crossover.
I removed the stock downpipe...no problem!
I removed the crossover...no problem!
I removed all bolts from headers to heads...no problem!

The DAMN bolts from passenger header to exhaust housing (3 bolts) are rusted SO BAD they wont come out! I have WD-40'd the hell out of them, letting them soak over nite for 2 nites now, and they wont budge!

Any ideas, techniques, products to loosen these damn things up?? Any and all help VERY appreciated!!!

I wanna weld my leaking headers, slap on my 3" THDP, bigger crossover and SPANK some more 5.SLOWS!! Is that too much to ask?? I don't think so... ;o(

Thanks!
Carlos

I was able to get all but ONE nuts off the three studs from the header. I would also like some tips!! Thanx good luck Carlos

P B BLASTER!!!

Read the directions on the can and follow them to a tee. The directions tell you to tap on the fasteners to set up a vibration that will get the stuff worked into the joints so that it can start penetrating.

Do it for a couple of days.

Heat helps too - run the car and/or use a bernz-o-matic on them - careful not to burn yourself or set something on fire.

If all else fails, the studs will break. If they do, be careful not to bust your hand, put a hole in your radiator, etc.

Get new studs and bolts from John Craig, and assemble them with high temperature, O2 sensor compatible anti-seize. And don't overtighten them.

Good luck!!!

PB Blaster is great stuff. If the passenger header is still on, try tightening the nut a little before losening it to try to break it loose. If the header is off, an impact gun has always been my friend. :D

Hey fellas...

I bought the PB Blaster during my lunch break yesterday, and it "looked" like it was working better than the WD-40, but still not breaking loose last nite!!

So after a few times of soaking it, tapping it, knocking the F**K out of it over the course of about 4 hours....i said F-IT!

SO.....
I got a mini torch, and heated the damn housing and header flange for about 30 seconds, and FINALLY the damn bolts broke loose!! You should have seen my face! LOL

Well anyways...Don, you can stick with the PB Blaster and wait a day or two, but I had to do it by end of last nite!

Good Luck Don, and anyone else who has to go thru what I did!

I just replaced the turbo on my 87 GN and the stocker had never been off since production (128k miles).
I used the PB Blaster and they came off with ease.

It is REAL good stuff.
Honestly, I was a WD-40 guy and thought of no other until I used the PB at work and noticed it hands down out performed the WD. So, it is all I use now.
