I posted this in the turbo section but not much attention there I guess.

Being new to turbos, I need help here. Ok, I picked up my car in NH last night. Trailer it back. Got it home here in VA Beach and decied to take it for a drive, of course. The factory boost gauge went 2 bars into the red and the car stuttered a few times. I did not know what this was so I did it again and had the same thing happen. What is the deal with it?

After all these years the stock gauge is not accurate or reliable. A good boost, or vac/boost gauge is needed.

However, if the car is over boosting, it will miss. Take a look at the vacumme hoses that go from the sensor on the passenger valve cover to the wastegate under the turbo and to the turbo outlet. Three hoses with a "Y" fitting. If something poped off there it will way over boost.

Of course somebody may have put an adjustible waste gate on the car and just cranked it way up.

Lots of good information here. click on the drop down button for lots of details on a wide variety of subjects.
