I think my new signature says it all and only 25 #'s of boost and still no alcohol on this pass. Damn nice when it finally comes together!!!! (insert tap dance here)
No secrets here, just finally got it tuned. Really. Next year alcohol for sure and lets see if we can improve on my traction issue.... It feels great finally running 11's all day and zero knock with the thing running like it should of all the time. This car weighs 3750 with me in it full tank of gas and it finally just hooked and booked and I still cut a .575 light to top it off, so it wasn't like I built a ton of boost either. Okay it was only 45 degrees out but that doesn't make for ideal track conditions either.. It just moved. We knew we had it tuned but only had a 1.759 60 foot and ran 11.972 at 112.99 mph (at yesterdays M-8 event at Stanton Michigan) thus if I could get it to hook well the rest speaks for itself. I'm just so happy. At the M-8 event I had people swear I had an intercooler hidden somewhere and we were only running 1/8 miles. Found the anti hop bars we added after Bowling green were my knock issue and the car ran great even with the weak ring issue. Thank God for the evac pump. I just feel blessed to be able to finally prove the car was what we thought it was. and to load it at the end of the day still running.... Now I am the home of an eleven second hot air, what a feeling....
Glad to hear it. You, can you imagine how much better Karl finally feels.... Finally is all I have to say and the last day the track is open just seems fitting....
SWWWWWEEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!! I wish I could have gotten up there earlier to actually watch that run. O well I got to see the slip that's all that really matters. Good job on the run and hope next year will be even faster.
Hopefully I can break the 12's Tuesday with a bit of tuning. If I could get better than 2.1, 2.2 60fts I might have already . Then Im gonna need some suggestions on mods so I can catch up .
Always fun to see people looking at all that space in front of the engine aint it? Then telling them "oh yeah, I dont have a intercooler"
our track(pir)will be open til the first of november and will be running "late nights" which usually mean mineshaft conditions .
hopefully my tranny will be back and reinstalled by the end of the week and my new ta-61 should be here by the middle of the week.we'll see if i can get this pile to run the # .
Let's just say that first weekend of May can't get here soon enough for me. Really would be great to unload it and run the number in front of the Buick community. I think it shouldn't be too far off, especially since Norwalk hooks no matter if it's raining.... Yes I have visions of 11.50's dancing in my head, while Karl sees nothing but 10's.... Oh that would be cake for sure... What's cool is this was done (now here we go) with an exhaust leak we couldn't pin point, blowing oil past the rings (evac saving me here) and have suspension issues trying to get the car to hook... I think we figure out why my lock up failed ( a couple of weeks ago) Tune for Alcohol (found you turn the knob to 3 and the egt drops way down so either more boost or less fuel next season) and get it completely healthy and it should be a strong 11 second car all season. It should be a good year and hopefully we will represent with two cars next season...
Hi, me and my son ( he liked your Tweety & Taz ) looked at your car in Bowling Green ( you did a great job with the paint, mine still looks funky) and with all the mods you have, plus that elec water pump, I knew that car should have been running better that it was. Congrads!! Your persistance paid off.
hey i gotta say u got urself a sweet ass ride runnin 11s wow gongrats again on ur ride im really impressed wit the fact that it aint intercooled that just made me think twice about spendin 1200 bucks on the set up maybe now i can spend it on something else that can get me moving that qwik i am curious to see ur set up what kind of bolts ons u have to give an idea of what turbo injectors etc to run well goodluck and i hope u do get really low 11s if not faster . oh did i hear someone say norwalk? is that norwalk in california in southern cali?hope so
You can go to www.gnttype.org and look under hot airs rule for my build sheet. The trouble at bowling green was converter related and we have that figured out. I don't see me getting 1.57 60 foots there any time soon, unless that track changes a lot by next year. The Norwalk we are referring to is Norwalk Ohio and the Buick event the first weekend of May 2004. The place where you will see the world's fastest buicks race all day long...
I emailed Ken Mosher and will email him again with the update and details. I know a whole 7 tenths faster then last year. Lee Thompson 3 inch down pipe and the cam Lee suggested being the only changes... Really made for a nice end of the year.
You are running a lockup, right. If so, how are you locking it, chip? If so, what gear, 3rd? If so, what rpm in third? How much rpm drop? Thats a lot of if sos
3600 lock up with it being set by red's chip at 92 mph and I will have to look at rpm's (just was going over the recordings) It seems my voltage booster was going bad or is bad, cause the volts were only about 12.5 I usually get 13.5 or higher and the o 2 readings look as though the denso was finally giving in to all that race fuel after having about 800 miles on it. (not to bad if you think about it since I only run 110 or higher all season) I'd recommend the denso to anyone. You can get them through the internet or call rowerdink in GR 616-459-3274.
If anyone is interested the denso number for non heated o2 sensor is 234-1001. Lee we were looking at the readings and it appears my tcc lock up isn't working 100% when it's locking with the chip right now rpm is only dropping 25 . I had a feeling it wasn't locking up 100% , something else we will look at this winter..
