Trying to figure out why this is not working, any ideas?

Per gnttype, I spliced into the green wire with yellow stripe that runs into the high speed relay (front driver side), and ran it into a switch and other side into a ground. Ground is working since I am using the same one for a line lock light.

For the fan switch I am using a 3 pole lighted switch, and the light is on when I flip the switch, meaning there is a connection, but fan does not come on.

Did I splice into the wrong wire? I didn't think I did since it mentions the same wire goes to temp switch connnector on the intake manifold, and that is the same wire.

Unless I am mistaken, you should be switching ground...

...to that relay, not B+(hot). That may be your trouble. You obviously have 3 poles on the switch, power and ground to the switch, and one is switched, so you need to find out if you are switching ground or B+ .

Thanks for following my threads around and answering my wiring questions. I did get the fan to work, but can't get the light to work at the same time. I did switch to a ground and that turns the fan on. Not sure what to do with the thirdone switch connection left to get the switch light on (light is part of the switch)

Not sure about that particular switch but...

...you may just need to power that last terminal, the light needs power and ground, the fan only needs switched ground.

I think I tried that, I've tried many combinations:D , but I'll go out and try a positive on that terminal. I just told my girlfriend that I'm glad I own a Buick and have this board as a resource:cool:

Adding a positive did not do the trick. If I have the switch ON and the ground is on one terminal, the light comes on but not the fan. If the ground is on the other terminal, it is opposite. If I connect those two terminals, the fan runs and the light stays off.

I wired a five switch ashtray panel in my other car, and have now lost all my wiring skills, that is if I ever had any:rolleyes:

I've got a feeling, based on what you've said...

...that the problem is not your wiring skills, but is in fact the switch. I don't use lighted switches at all unless they come in a kit. Most are of pretty poor quality anyway. Got any more of those indicator lights? Power one side of it (off your ignition circuit) and ground it with the same wire that grounds the fan relay.

Good thing is the fan works, and I bet you're right on that switch, it's a Radio Shacker. Not sure where the other switch and seperate light came from as it came with the car and I used it. Thanks for the help as this isn't the "fun" kind of question that gets answered.

Just for the wiring archives, I'll add that I hooked up my Scanmaster again with this car with a four pin connector in the area below the steering column. I got fancy and used a push button on/off switch beside it, instead of an ashtray panel switch as before. Here is the slick scanmaster hookup info:
