okay i am going to put myself out there , here goes. what is the pur puse of the hood pad . doesn't it hold alot of heat in the engine compartment. also would it be beneficial to have some kind of hood scoop to let air in to cool the turbo. just somethings that popped into my head.

Yes , and No. The hood insulation is there to protect heat of the turbo from damaging the paint on the outter surface of the hood. After a while of running w/o the insulation, you will start to see the hood fade in this area if unless it bubbles first. It doesnt hold significant heat to make a noticable difference. You can cut or add whatever you want to your GN. A hood scoop would deffinately help alot with the cooling of the engine/turbo. Would i do it? Not unless i had about 500 beers in me and i think 99% of the people on this site would agree with me on that. But then again, its your car not mine. If cooling is more important to you, more power to you.
 
If you want to let some heat out just pull the weatherstripping in the cowl area off... it'll let alot of heat out. and like WE4 said its there to protect your paint and hood from all the heat.
