Horrible day for me 13.9 ET 95MPH.

20-21psi during the whole run would leave wheels all 3 gears.

The slicks where set at 15 PSI, on the burnout I would count to 5 missispi's , and it would NOT stick during the run. I felt like I was spinning down the track the first 700 feet.

During staging it would runaway and not hold at 16PSI, so i redlighted each and every time.

What would be ideal tire pressure for 26x8 slicks? and how long do you do a burnout????

Any other tips would be helpful!!!

thanks

sounds like the tires are worn out? (or the track is very bad....)

Do you have a posi? If not do you have a right rear air-bag? What was your 60' time, 1/8 time and 1/4 time? Are they comparable to previous trips to the track?

I think 15# in the tires is a good starting point, nit you could reduce it 1# per run to see if it hooks. Also, try leaving at 2# lower boost each run untill it hooks.

Finally, the 95 mph when running 20# of boost seems a little low.

60' was 1.8

1/8 was 11.50

I think the track was no good also. The tires are brand new!

no airbag

15 psi is tooooo much. Lower 'em to 10 max. (Gets hairy at the top end with less.

Leave with more boost. Kinda like a slingshot.....it matter big time for good E.T.s

You're redlighting because you're following the lights down with your eyes and anticipating. Read this again.

On a sportsman tree..... you focus on the last light only...not click 'em off. Once the last bulb lights you leave.

1.8 60' is not awful. For slicks it is, but given your times I'd have expected 2.5xx. Something else is wrong to be running that much boost and a 95 MPH trap.

I wouldn't worry too much about traction until you figure out why it runs like it does. Also, 16 PSI is A LOT to expect from the footbrake.

Put a scan tool on it and figure out what's going on.

wouldnt the traction problem affect my MPH??

I use T-link and it disconnects during the burnout.

A HUGE traction problem would affect MPH, but a 1.8 60' isn't what I'd consider a huge problem. Even if it's breaking loose farther out you should still trap a lot higher. At 20-21 PSI I think your MPH is a at least 8, maybe as much as 10 MPH off that of a well tuned car.

Also the 11.50 in the 1/8th but 13.9 in the 1/4 is strange. Sure that wasn't your 1,000 Ft. time?

Double check the 1/8th time. What was your 1/8th MPH?

just my 2 cents

I had simular problems on a GN I had before the one now and I sat a scratched my head for hours, so I decided to try what I read a few days prior. I had an air bag on the right side that helped, 10# in the slicks, that helped, REMOVED the front sway bar, HUGE help then I had horrable wheel hop, got some No-hop traction bars from Jegs the are Lakewood jegs part number 620-21610 and are 129.99, put those on and all my troubles went away, got crazy after that and put adjustable drag shocks on and then all my troubles came back, adjusting those things takes alot of time...thank goodness I had a couple of friend who were on top of things...Good Luck and just my 2 cents

Timeslip stats

This was my first run of the day new slicks 15PSI in the tires.

Although i had 1.8 60', it was mostly tire spinning, my launch psi was 16# (redlighted)

60' 1.832
330' 5.546
1/8th ET 8.747
1/8 MPH 76.27
1000' 11.53
1/4 ET 13.9
1/4 MPH 94.13

I just got the following installed on the car last week.

BMR rear upper and lower control arms, BMR extreme bar. Bilstien shocks all around and new stock springs.

Thanks for the help all

Was there any knock on the run? Do you know what the o2s were at all? Just curious because something is holding you up mph wise in the 1/8 and 1/4. It should at least gain 20 mph from the 1/8 to the 1/4 and im assuming that the TC was not locked. With the TC locked it should be closer to 24 mph gained.

My scantool disconnected for some reason, couldnt record the run.

On the street Ive been over 22PSI with no knock.

I left the car in 3rd gear only, I thought lockup only occurs in 4th gear???

DR Boost,

I was surprised the guy in the other lane had a trailored camaro and he ran 13.954!

strange track thats for sure, where do you recommend going?????

thanks

I guess spinning after the 60' mark would give results like yours if you were spinning bad enough. Usually most people have a bad 60', like over 2.1 or so, when they are spinning. In your case it seems like you launched decent (not awesome but not bad either) but went downhill after that. With my Nittos and my ET Streets only spinning I ever got was early and then it hooked after that.

I'm surprised the redlighting didn't affect your 60' time. I always thought the clock would start clicking once the red light came on. Anyway, I would work on that. Hopefully you are using a line loc. If not, you are heating up your rear brakes during the burnout and thats why you can't hold that much boost. With the slicks you should back into the water and do a nice long burnut (not necesarily smokey) to get them nice and hot. I usually roll out of the burnout to make sure they are nice and clean and pump my brakes a couple times (using line loc) before I get to the line. I've only been up to 10 psi on a launch so far though, so you may try a little lower boost first to make sure you can hold it before going higher.

If you are spinning as much as you say you were, then your times and mph don't look too far off. Strange that you spun so far out though. I wouldn't even spin on the street very far out with my ET Streets on. Doesn't make sense unless the track had oil or water on it or something. Weird. Did you switch lanes and get the same results? Are you sure you were definitely spinning after the 60' mark?

I didnt try different lanes. I used linelocs to do the burnout.

My home town track use to be englishtown, and this never happened to me before. I'm going to try a different track and try to heat the tires up more. Also try to work out this Tlink disconnect problem.

on my street tires i can spin in 3 gears with the turbo set at 21PSI. I felt The slicks did me no good during the runs.

I'm very confused, but will try again.

I bet you miss Englishtown. Its a great track. And its only 20 min down the road from me. :D

Just curious about the lane change in case it was just the track.

I pushed a little the first couple of times I used the line loc, but now I pump the brakes a couple times before I stage and no problems since. I can probably hold as much boost as I want, but never tried over about 15-16psi. We have a similar combo...stock turbo with high stall convertor.

I cut a 1.70 60' on the ET Streets on a 7-10psi launch on friday at Englishtown. Not sure where the boost spiked too on the actual launch. Just to give a comparison on a similar combo.

Kind of curious to see what up with your times. Post your results next time you run.

yes I do miss englishtown, very nice track. I lived in long island, but it was worth the drive. Also Atco is nice not sure if they are still around.

this was my last week with the stock turbo. i ordered a TA61 and should have it up and running this weekend.

I will post new results when i get them , hopefully they are a lot better!
