I just got back yesterday and was dissapointed with the turnout.I know this is the first year of this but it leaves lots of room for for improvement.the vendors row was very sparce too. There were some fast cars there but now worth the trip from WI.
what did everybody else think??
Brian

There weren't too many people there, that is true. But I didnt see anyone complaining about the event or saying " we will never come back " like they did at other meets. I think The Chamberlin Group did a fantastic job of putting on the event for the 1st time. Indy has had a race there almost every weekend, during the summer, so I think folks are kind of raced out. Maybe the Buick meets need to be spaced out a little more to get racers / car show / Vendors time to re-group, rebuild, and restock. Few of us sat around after the event ended with John and gave a few Ideas, like maybe an all out GM HP Nationals? Another Muscle car nationals ? a B.O.P meet, anything to mix it up some. Plus a car show during the day, and race under the lights at night. its cooler, and cars run better. There is always room for improvement. But I think this will deff be something that will get big. It was clean and fun. I was proud to sponsor TSO and bracket class and I hope to attend any event the Chamberlin Group puts on.

Disappointed with the turnout? There was over 900 people there I heard. I heard 900-1100. You must have high expectations. It was atleast as populated as BG ever was. Vendor row was rather scarce but many couldnt go.

Jason

some people were dissapointed about the 50 fastest muscle cars. that didnt show up, all in all it was ok, i only saw one smart A$$ wise guy track worker, and not many small children riding 4 wheelers , mini bikes and golf carts like bowling green, ill will be running at bowling green and indy next year, :) oc.

I'd have to agree with that statement. The event had a great turnout iin my opnion for a first year event. Remember many people were debating between Indy and BG this year and now after hearing the good reviews about Indy and the bad reviews about BG from this year I think that Indy will be much bigger next year.

Overall I did like the event ,I just hope next year is better.
Where were the 900-1100 people-under a rock?????I was there thurs-sat and at most there were 75-125 people in the stands whating and maybe 200-300 in pits. Not complaining about the event Jason but looking for what everyone else thought.
Brian

I thought the turnout was decent. As big as the pits are it doesn't look like there were as many people there as there are. Everybody was more tightly grouped together than at BG. I think it was a very good event. And the winners actually got paid prize money.

Where are the final results? Sorry I came off like I did, didnt mean to.

Indy

Had a great time. And all I can say is John made a very good impressing me with handling a delicate sitituation and is a stand up guy for that in my opinion and I definately will try and be there next year with both of mine and my son's car too.

Indy

Thanks for the kind words, guys. Honestly, I had mis-giving the first few days. The 50 Fastest bombed and I was thinking we were in deep trouble. But you racers came through and I tried to treat everybody fairly. And, yes, there were classes that we had to cancel because there were few cars showing up to run them but those people could still enter the bracket classes for the same payouts. And while I am on that topic, some of these other classes were short on participants too but in my mind we needed to pay them the full amount anyways just because it was the right thing to do. So, we did that.

We definately had some issues that I will work hard to address next year. Going in blind is tough and we got our butts kicked in some areas. I think I know where most of the problems were and we will do our best to correct them for next year. Please bear with us.

In conclusion, I am very thankful for all of you who showed up to support this event. Yes, we lost money, but I am committed to making this work for all of us. I think Indy has some real potential. I am very proud to be part of a GREAT bunch of people. Again, a very humble thank you. I will be posting a winner list later today on the Buick Horsepower site.

I was very happy and will go back. My days visiting BG are probably over.

Great track and run very well by the workers. Good seeing guys like Nick Micale working in the staging lanes. :)

I agree it was well run and we will be back next year, but we'll also always go to BG. We enjoy that town as much as the event. What's wrong with enjoying as many Buick events as we can????? Life is short, enjoy all the fun Buick events you can... and don't forget our Buick Midwest Challenge this fall! :) Paul

How did the Turbo Factory Stock class turn out?!?!?!?!

great time at indy

I had a great time at indy it was a little slower pace ,But it gave me more time to bull**** with everyone else .I dident see any frowns on anybodys face ,just a little disbute about a by run , a little flip of a coin by john settled that . I myself took second place in a money race got beaten by dennis in his mustang , good job . I also took second place in hybryd class and took home some more of johns money. Two wall plakes and some cash and bragging rights is not bad for buick horsepowers first event ;) . Cant wait till next year . thanks again .

I had a great time there as well. I did not run a car, but it was nice seeing a lot of Buicks in one place and hang out with fellow Buick owners. I plan on going back next year if it happens.

Good job John

Good job on a first years event...

good turn out, large pit area, nice weather, especially when it counted, very nice facility, it can only get better. A bigger town, got to start getting familiar with the Buick hang outs at night during the week. The Radisson by the airport was a nice place to stay too.

I guess if you are racing a track like Indy is the way to go but if you are in the stands it isn't as much fun as a smaller track. While the weather wasn't to bad the days I was there it was to hot for anyone other than a true car nut to sit in the stands and watch in the middle of the day.I have never understood why big tracks that have big races all summer long don't have something to make some shade on the stands.

I will probably go back to Indy next year but it is hard to beat Bowling Green. The track and the town at least. Both seem to fit well with an event the size of ours. They are probably the only thing that keep the Nats alive.

Just my 2 cents

Can someone direct me to the rules? I'd get a car together for next year just to show up with and win. Thanks
