Im looking to waste even more money on my car and was considering propain. With all the mods I have it still doesnt feel that fast. I have no track times tho to verify that. I dont know what to do. My question is who has ANYTHING AT ALL to say about propain on a hotair? any insight would be great. thanks, sTeve

You should go to the track and get some times to see where you stand. It's all relative, you get used to the car over time. When I went 12.9@110mph at low boost I couldn't even feel my car accelerating because I was so used to high boost, I thought it was going to be a high 14 second run.

You should go to the alky forum. Propane no doubt works but from what I see, the second it leaves the pressure regulator in the trunk it is in gas form so probably doesn't do as much as alky for cooling the charge air. I know for a fact alky signifigantly lowers temps.

That would probably be the best bang for your buck right now. Second on the list would be a homemade intercooler setup, it's possible to do complete for $450. If you have the tools, the intake can be ported for the cost of a new intake gasket and will definately help too.

i ported my intake this year and i have a 87 IC i can use and was considering the idea of the custom IC. That would be the ultimate route but i spent a lot of time cleaning up my engine compartment and dont want a bunch of pipes lookin all crazy under there. thanks for the info. Im hoping to get a run or 2 b4 seasons end.

I read your signature twice and missed the "home ported intake" both times lol.

The intercooler would be the best because there's nothing to run out of like alky. If you already have it, you could install it the right way for around $150. The only suggestion I have is after watching the trouble my dad has working on anything on the front part of the motor on his stock location IC T-type I would suggest mounting it as a front mount. I am pretty pleased with the way my piping looks considering it was homemade in 30 minutes time. Besides, it impresses the ricers :) .

Once again I would have to second cool 84. Go to the track before making any assumptions. Our cars make there most impact on the topend. Your not going to be running two many 1/4 miles on the streets to see this. SCANTOOL, TUNE, TUNE, TUNE. If you havent made it to the track yet then you probably havent really been able to really dive into the art of tuning. Need to know what your working with before doing anything else, IMO.
If strictly a street car, seems to me that tuning for 1/8 mile would make a really quick car. When running 1/8 mile tracks, from what I hear, they tend to pump up the boost and/or timing. Just a thought.
By the way, Havent ran my car since september, but I was finally beginning to make some gains with tuning. gained about 5-6mph and .6-.7et within 2 weeks without changing any parts. 0 kr and O2s in the 840-860 range, so plenty more room for improvement yet. After seeing the steady gains, my brothers (both have intercooled TRs) were finally sold on the alky injection. Im making more power on the topend then one of them, and about the same as the other one whose car is capable of 11's if he ever stops BS'n and tunes it right. Well, we installed alky kits on both of their cars a few days ago, and I completely revamped mine. IMO, alky is the best bang for the buck hands down. It will complement any mod you currently have or do in the future. Contact RAZOR, he is the tech moderator for the alky forum, and a very cool guy to talk to. He is very knowledgeable and would be happy to advise/help you (Im sure he knows a little something about propain too, if you want some opinions on it). Quite the electronics expert aswell. If you go the alky route, he will get you right with UP TO DATE technology, including his progressive alcohol controller, all designed by him (no more talk about bogging, or hobbs switches to worry about either). Right now I dont think there is any other logical route to go for an alky kit. Only thing that kind of pissed me off is all the stuff I had to disconnect to install the new stuff. All the time I took putting my DIY kit together and changing it over the years. Wish I had this setup to begin with (anxious to get back to the track sometime soon).http://www.alkycontrol.com/

sounds intriguing. Got any pics of how it was done, and any info on how i could do it for $150? thanks!

Yep, I'm getting pics for several people who have asked for them. Finding the time when it's daytime is difficult. I'm going to post intercooler plumbing, my intake setup, and TB relocation. I'll have to wait until Sunday to get anything up.

I'd rather show in pictures and explain it then. It's very simple but I'm not that good with words.

propane is great but the only reason i bought my kit is because it was new and $400..

if it was $600 i never would've gotten it.. probably would have found a isuzu NPR intercooler and made it into a front mount in that case..
