For you bone stock, mint, collector or purist types (like myself) what is the most anal things you do, to ensure your cars well being? Anything odd? Dry washing it only? Wear gloves when you drive it? Never let anyone touch it ever? Lets hear it. Ill wait a few posts, to tell how anal I am lol.

Pretty Anal

I can tell you the past owner always hand washed it, never let anyone change his tires with an air ratchet and dang he was picky about every little detail. I was a little intimidated when I purchased the car, so I made a vow to the good lord that I will do every thing he did and keep every little reciept no matter how cheap the fuse was and keep it forever with the car.

As for touching, I get upset with my wife when she opens her car door in the garage around my car and I can't stand the thought of anything bad ever happening to it.

Not an Original, But I enjoy driving it so much that I don't enjoy driving it.

How about taking all the hard fuel lines off the car to polish them?
From the tank to the rails...

not bad not bad. lookin for some other obsessive compulsive types like me, to make me not look so bad lol.
On my car I 1. make sure the bottoms of my shoes are clean before i get in. then, on the way to the car, i look down at each step, to avoid picking up any crap last minute, before i get in. when i sit down, i tap my shoes together, to bump off any more crap before i get in.

2. rest my heels in different places each time i drive it, so as to not wear the typical wear spot in my carpet/floor mat.

3. when I use my shifter, i dont ever touch the handle, only the chrome shaft.

4. when driving, i only touch the steel spokes of the steering wheel, and as little of the leather as I can.

5. when shifting the trans from say, reverse to D, i wait FULLY till its completely shifted, before i take my foot off the brake, and depress the gas.

6. when i start er up, i always wait a little bit, to get the oil warmed up and circulating.

7. when shutting my door, i touch ONLY the outer portion of the door handle to shut the door. (and NEVER the glass) and if i have long sleeves, i use my wrist instead, as it is covered with my shirt or whatever.

8. if i get out of my car, but its only temporary, i slowly shut my door, and nudge it half closed. the less full speed impact shuts she gets, the better it is in my mind.

9. i have a lot of keys on my key chain. when i drive my buick, only its keys go in, as i dont want them to flop around and scratch anything in the ignition area.

10. when shutting my hood, i grab the steel hook thingy, instead of the top of the hood. less fingerprints.

11. when i lift my tilt steering wheel to get out, i dont let the spring 'switchblade' the steering wheel up on its own accord. I gently guide it there.

12. when putting the key into the trunk, i look at what im doing, and do it very slowly, so i dont miss, and scratch the paint, like you typically see around other cars locks.

13. if i move my wiper blades (i dont EVER use my wipers for rain, cuz it never sees it) for whatever reason, when i put them back, i make sure both of the litttle rubber blades are resting up, instead of crammed down lol. i know i know.. you guys are probably scratching your head at this point lol.

14. I carry a good microfiber, a shaving brush, and a lint roller in the centre console, so i can wipe up any smudge on the glass as soon as it happens, to brush off any dust on the dash and center console, and to pick up any dog hairs or lint on the interior as soon as it appears. and i have kirbans cotton twill seat covers on the fronts too.

15. I make sure, when I get in and close my doors, to grab the arm rest handles, not the pull straps, as they NEVER seem to stay tight, no matter what I seem to do.

16. when i use my turn signal, i only touch the chrome stem portion, so as to not rub off anymore of the white lettering thats on there. I have a kirban replacement in case, but its the other cars stalk, not the gn's as the black part is matte, not shiny like ours. its an nos part though.

17. The second I get done driving her, i always open the hood, to allow the engine bay to get its heat out quicker.

18. when wiping down my interior, i only use water, and never any chemicals, as i dont trust them. the last time i used windex on an interior of mine, it immediately started pulling off this 'gum' of somesort off the steering wheel and arm rests. this was multiple cars this has happened to. no chemicals for the buick.

19. I dont use air tools to take off my wheels, as impact sockets are too thick, and they touch the centercaps and scratch them, so i use a 19mm deep socket, wratchet handle, and speed wrench instead lol.

I know im crazy, but thats how much i care for my buicks. I love these cars, and went thru quite a lot of crap to get this car. Shes staying as perfect as i can keep it. :)

I think you and I are Kin Folk!!! We must be brothers... I love it!!

Most people around me consider me anal about my car:

1. I get really paranoid if anyone gets withing like 5 ft of the car

2. If i have my nice floormats in I take my shoes off when I get in.

3. I don't allow people to sit in the back seat

4. I won't drive the car if I'm gunna have to park somewhere that I can't see it

5. I clean the car with cuetips

6. I refuse to use my windshield wipers. The very few times the car has seen rain since I've owned it I've never used them, the rain just glides right off.

7. I can tell you just about every imperfection in the paint on the car.

8. I took everything from the intake up and forward of the timing cover off to clean everything.

9. I refuse to use air tools. My friends call me crazy but I don't feel like I have control with air tools.

10. I almost got thrown out of a transmission shop where I was having 2 holes that I stripped for the pan helicoiled. Apparently the owner didn't like me sitting in the bay on the ground watching the mechanic do anything. He asked me to sit in the waiting room so I told him no and I sat right outside the bay door since the waiting room didn't have a window. He said he didn't want me sitting there either since it was like someone reading a book over your shoulder so I told him I was going to sit there or they were gunna take my car down and I was gunna go somewhere else.

I know there's a lot more I just can't think of them right now. I'd probably have to ask some of my friends because I may not even realize some of the things that I do.

Ha, I do those too. Another thing I do is before I pull my car out of the garage for the first time I'll quickly wipe it down with my California car duster.:p I hate driving my car around with dust on it so I do that while it's warming up. Also when I get home and I have time I'll wipe it down again with my duster and use some Meguiars quick detailer spray if I have to.

yep. i do the EXACT same thing as well. i always dust it before i drive it. dont want to drive a dirty car lol. gotta represent ya know?

so you do this crap too eh westside? good.. i dont feel soo nutty now.. lol.

I got you all beat

Every inch of carpeting and seats (I've got leather) are covered either with seat covers or towels and several layers of floor mats. The original mats are in the basement.

I keep paint brushes, quik detailer, q-tips, towels, etc in the car at ALL times.

The car is wiped down after each use including the undercarriage, interior, motor, etc.

The car gets Zainoed twice per month regardless if the car has been driven. This includes the winter when it sits under cover in the garage for five months straight.

My license plate says SPTLSS 1 so I have a reputation to uphold (used to own a car detailing business).

Oh yeah, when my neighbor walks over to look at the car I close the garage door...we don't way any fingerprints on our baby

I agree with many of you guys above.

1. Hate when people walk around my car
2. I WILL not have the car serviced anywhere
3. Always slam the hood-no handprints or indents on the hood
4. Always do a sudsy wash
5. Whenever I wax it is always polish, glaze, then wax
6. No one with food or drinks in the car
7. No dirty shoes
8. Always have rubber mats over the fancy mats
9. No one touches the chrome under the hood-finger prints suck
10. No one leans against the car
11. No one drives but dad or I....

Now that's what I would call being anal.

I was quite anal about ours up until the clear coat started peeling, and the ttops started leaking real bad, and the seats and carpet started tearing, and my other cars started breaking down and I have lost time to keep it clean. I'm just going to start saving until my kids are out and start from scratch.

Then I'll want it SPTLSS!

You know that crap like this is why you buick guys get made fun of right?;)

I keep my car "clean", but seriously, try to enjoy your cars guys. You can't take it with you, and its not a priceless work of art. Cars can be painted, parts can be replaced, etc. If you're sweating every time you take it out because someone might get near it you're not enjoying it. Its just a car, its a toy.

I also think maybe some of you guys might just need to get laid.

I mean come on, Zaino'ing your car twice a month?!?! In all seriousness, you're probably hurting the paint more than helping it with all that rubbing. Zaino lasts a long time, and if its done right there probably isn't much difference by the time you get a few coats on it. How the hell do you find time to do that twice a month?

I'd rather be out burning rubber and feeling the power than in the garage taking stuff apart to clean it. Chances are you'll have that part off soon enough anyway to fix something, clean it then.

Well this is GN is my first buick (car only has 14,600) Still brand new, the car is only 3 years younger than me,

Well first off the car never comes out in the rain
I have 3 bottles of zaino on the car ( approx 60 coats)
I have speacial slippers that I wear while driving the car ( lol)
Nice cotton towels on the seats so theres no wear or stain marks,
You can eat off the motor and any other part of the car
Ill always give a quick bath before I use the car cover
Nobody eats or drinks in the car
If I go anywhere ill park 100kms away casually taking to spots,( always some ahole junker beside me when I come out)

But I enjoy driving it, i also have 95 bonneville ssei, thats in brand new shapes as a daily driver, I take car of my cars like there my kids, Im paying for these cars so why not have something your proud of looking at,

Im not that anal am I
?

LMFAO!:D

Even though I don't like dust and fingerprints on my car I'm not that anal (damn Zaino twice a month??). I do drive mine almost everyday except in the rain...and thats only because of the MT drag radials. Otherwise I eat in my car (carefully of course) and let people ride in the backseat.   BTW you should see under the hood, it looks like sh1t with all the dust and oil stains. And the undercarriage looks even worse.
