I currently have the front cover off, all cleaned up and ready to put back on...but I need to put the new neoprene crank seal in and haven't figured out how to put that sucker in there! I pulled the old rope seal out with a pair of needle nose pliers...but theres no way you can just push in that new seal...does that little ring inside the circle just "pop" out somehow? It's a brownish looking ring...tried using a screwdriver to no avail and didnt want to screw something up...

When I put a new front cover and seal in it leaked.

I was told that the new seal should be adjusted to fit snug on the balancer hub. Make sure you check this before putting it together.

At least the new cover has the seal on the outside :o

well i am just re-using the stock cover...i cleaned it up really good...

one more question before I put this thing back on...that ring that I had to remove with a screwdriver and hammer...do you just dis-card that when using the new seal? it looks like it doesn't fit with the new seal anymore...does the seal just pretty much replace that ring? i hammered in the new seal...kinda tough to get in there!

also when priming the oil pump gears with vaseline...how much do i put in there? do i lightly coat everything with vaseline or really pack it good in there??? never done this before:confused:

Every time I have pre lubed an engine, all engines not just the TR engine, the oil pump primed its self almost immediately. There is no need to pack the pump - just lube the gears to prevent the dry start - put a pre lube rod on a drill motor - and crank up some pressure for a couple of minutes befoe installing the cam sensor.

IT WILL BE FINE.

You will see what I mean because the drill will bog down almost right-a-way because it will suck the oil in within a few seconds.

well i went ahead and primed it with vaseline anyways...i already put the cover back on...

yeah it shouldn't be a big deal priming this thing...i will also fill the oil cooler line and prime it that way too just to be safe...

my question though that is still unanswered is that metal ring that i had to pop out of the front cover to get the new seal in...do i disgard that now or am i supposed to re-use it? looks like it doesn't even fit with the new seal so maybe it's supposed to be left off?

I just replaced my front seal along with everything else. I was told that the ring is not to be reused with the new seal. I don't see how it could be re-used anyway.
