I know there were "X" number manufactured.
(I don't know the exact number, as I have seen several different figures on this)
Wondering if there is a way to figure out how many are still left?
Some have been wrecked or parted out.
Judging from the spokes on my stearing wheel (and other things), mine has probably had an interesting history.
Is there a way to find out how many "survivors" still exist?

A butt load of GNs are left, they were the least rare of the turbo Buick cars.

Basically - no, there is no way to know how many still exist.
In 87 alone there were 20,000+ GNs made not to mention the turbo t/t-types, limiteds etc....

Well...you can scratch off 2 '87 GNs as of March here in TN...two got hit (& consequently totalled) in the same night, in entirely seperate incidents.

I would say,

Total up all the 86-87 turbo models made,
Then cut it in half due to them being
Stolen and gutted
Totalled
And the few that are just junkers or about to be junkers

I would bet there are less than 14k 86-87's.

I had a stolen and gutted GN, and knew more guys similar to that situation than in good condition.

Impossible to know other than having access to all motor vehicle registrations and even that would exclude cars that went overseas or are not registered.

One method: take the accumulated production figures and apply normal car attrition rates.

Even these lists account for a fraction of the cars. In fact, look at the 89 TTA. There's only 1550+- and no one can account for all of them!

Explain?

The 3 spokes come towards the driver for about an inch. Then they bend back towards the front. Think something (or someone) might have hit those at some time and bent them.

Hmmm lets go back in time
-1984-87 first time buyers babyed the car no knowledge 10%
-1990-94 nitro gang 10%
-1994-98 second gen buyer little knowledge 10%
-1998-2004 go fast gang no scan tool,hi boost 10%
alky, 20lb launch,etc
-cars totaled, neglected and chopped 30%
You do the math
