I am wanting to lighten my 87GN and thought about a fiberglass hood. Need to know how much of a decrease it really is? Also, can some one tell me what vendors are making a quality product. P.S. Will I need to change out the stock hydraulics? Thanks to all.

i know it's a lot, i think it's about 35lbs ot 40lbs.. YES you will have to replace the shocks, the factory ones would shot up the glass hood to fast.. as to a vendor, i purchased my from Anderson but just do a sreach on the web and you will find one..

only 25lbs and yes you need lighter hood supports (kirbanperformance.com has hoods and struts)

more weight can be shed cutting the stock steel bumper reinforcement down till they are just brackets like the export or using the export brackets and more lost by swapping on aluminum bumper struts , want more take off the impact bumpers from the front for another 2 lbs , want even more do glass bumper

I already have a fiberglass front bumper and I am wanting to get the car painted. So if I am going to get one now is the time. 25lbs does not seem like a considerable amount. Wonder if it is worth it?

Make sure that whatever fiberglass hood you get is smooth or can be made smooth without a ton of work - I have seen some that are pretty wavy.
