How much boost 85 hot air?

How much boost does a stock hot air run?Will a scanmaster for an 87 work on the 85 as a diagnostic tool?Is there any advantage to running an aftermarket chip for street duty?This car runs good but will not even burn rubber with a peg leg.I'm going to use this as a daily driver,I have an 87 so I do have some knowledge of the cars.Thanks Jim

somewhere between 8 and 14 psi

i think stock was "supposed" to be 12..

Mine have all run right on 13psi with stock chips and airboxes. My 84 T had the same "no power" problem when I got it. Turned out to have the wrong torque converter in it. It won't do too well with a 1300 stall. Check to make sure yours still has the correct D5 in it or at least a 5 stamped all the way around it.
