I can relate to that. I pushed my 99 GT SOHC 4.6 stock longblock into the 10s and it met a violent death also taking out the block. Three pistons broke, but one shattered and the rod punch a hole in the side of the block. Just because we can do something doesn't always make it a good idea. Could be why I dropped in a Girdled block with forged pistons this time around first.
Sorry about your motor, but it was a hell of a ride while it lasted  Say, how many 10 second passes did you have on that beast before it went?
Have you thought much about your rebuild? Have really been impressed with your times.

Making that many passes on a stock shortblock in a late model ford is no joke. Powdered metal rods, 10:1 compression and pistons that shatter if you sneeze on them arent really happy with boost. I give you alot of credit for the tune that made it last so long...Im assuming it was a stock shortblock
I was pushing 500rwhp on my cobra with a novi 1000, intercooler and only 11.5psi on only 14 degrees total timing. I had it on there for about 5 months and then sold the kit to pay off taxes. I still count myself lucky for not grenading the motor. Cobra shortblocks arent exactly cheap
Are the stock GN pistons hypereutectic like the fords, or forged?
Razor- your car flat out astounds me. **** all the people who knock alky. I have plans for my money, and race gas in a daily driver isnt one of them. Alky makes more sense from every angle and cant understand how anyone could talk themselves into insisting on race gas on a street car. Have you ever had the shortblock rebuilt, or is it the OG high mile motor? You have a main girdle on that bad boy?
