Hello, was just wondering if someone could tell me how to check a VIN number for an 1987 Regal. The car was advertised for sale on Craigslist, the seller says it is a T-Type, but when I went to look at it, I saw that the guy lied to no end about how clean the car was,it was ugly, beat up, and had a Maaco $99.00 paint job to cover up rust and bondo. I ran a carfax on it, it came back with one major wreck, and the odometer was incorrect. I am not going to buy it, but just want to post on Craigslist what a lier and scumbag this guy is. The VIN # is 1G4GM1178HP424917 . The car was for sale in Seattle area. Thanks

Found what I was looking for

Hello, just found what I was looking for. The 8th digit in the VIN tells what the engine code is. On this car it is a #7 , so from what the http://www.gnttype.org/general/vin.html site shows, it is a real turbo car. What is interesting is that it has a sleeper look, what with the Regal Limited badges and the leather seats and a column shifter. How many Regal Limited cars with leather and the LC2 turbo engine were produced? Thanks

Not sure of the exact numbers but it was less than 1500 in '87. That doesn't make it as valuable as a GN though. The prodction of GN's in '87 were more than 10 times that but the GN's bring much more money these days which means a T can be a great deal because the driveline and performance was identical.

What a pile, bondo, repainted and a column shifted car, who would want that?

Shoot me the carfax please, and the city state where the limited turbo car is on craigslist.com

Everyone assumes a column shift bench is a limited.. just want to view it myself
