How to get oil sensor out?

Trying to install new VDO gauges and need to get the stock unit out. How does this come out? And what did you run for a wire to the sending unit?

I tried messing with vise grips and stuff first then just bought the tool from pep boys for like $8. I'd recommend it to save some aggravation. The boys here may have a better answer...

I ran some 14 gauge wire to the sending unit into the car through the grommet on the DS firewall

Thanks for the input. The only other wires that need to be connected would be for the light, correct? I see on these gauges there is the positive and negative for the light and then also a positive and negative on the area where the sending wire comes in. Do I need to run that extra set of negatives and positives?
