Hey guys,

Can anyone tell me how to properly use the voltmeter to check the TPS voltage? Need to use it to indicate .42 to .48 range I believe this is why I have some stumbling and some hestition from a dead stop? Also what do I set it on Volts or AC? Thanks alot. Also it is a stock motor stock parts so I would like to know if it is .42 or what to set it at? Thanks again. :)

You set it to DC. I seem to recall that the voltage measured right at the TPS is a couple of 1/10ths different than what the ECM sees (I assume this is loss due to wire resistance). So it's much easier to use a scan tool and adjust it that way instead of using the volt meter.

I agree, use a scantool. What the computer sees is what it sees, plus you get to see so much more than that, like actual rpm, speed, temperature, 02's, blms and such. I know my stock speedo and tach are worthless on my dash for tuning.

You measure DC voltage on a scale that will read from 0 to 5 volts.

Ground on the meter, black probe usually goes to black wire of the tps at terminal C if you can read it.

+ probe on the meter usually red goes to the dark blue tps wire terminal B.

Set it to .42 volts key off and you should be fine for the low reading.

Tip in is possibly vacuum leak issues or IACV count issues or else in the chip.

Not normally tps unless it's way off.

Factory harness connector needs to be on the sensor with the key on for the test, you may need to use invasive probes which pierce the insulation of the wiring slightly to get a reading, or else use a metal pin or needle into the wire and then a clip-on lead to the meter probe to get a reading.
