Got a chance to look at it today since I had the day off.

Thought I had a bent push rod or dead lifter.

Pulled the pass side rocker shaft off and the end was bent:eek:

It has a crack in the hole where it is secured to the head.

It's about 50% of the way around.

Is this fairly common thing to have happen?

I've heard Fords wil do this with.

bout time you looked at it

it is common

mine were still fine but I got a set of heavy duty shafts and rockers to put on it this time

I have plenty of stock ones if you need a quick fix or hit me up and I'll tell ya about the heavy duty shafts

It hasn't happened to me yet, but I'm told it's a common occurence. RJC makes rocker braces to prevent it. I just got a set.

If you have a lot of miles on the car I would still invest in some HD shafts...the shaft supports that Jason has are great but don't entirely prevent the shaft from breaking...I had his supports on a stock shaft and it still broke right at the forward hole...luckily it was at the end of the run...

Dido! I also had braces (T&D) and mine broke at the 660 foot mark. Still won the race w/ a 10.72 @ 121 on 5 cylinders for the final 1/8. You know the feeling, when you know you should lift, but it's already broke you you stay in it. Mind games. At the very least, get HD shafts. If you can afford it, get rollers for the adjustability.

Don't forget to check your pushrods. I broke a few shafts on a previous Buick, and there were usually 1 or 2 bent pushrods too.

Check turbobuick s.........They sell heavy duty sets complete for $60. Can't beat it.
