I have Allstate on everything and they always gave me a good deal. State Farm was always a tiny bit cheaper but any claim with Allstate I never had one issue so I stuck with them. Plus the office is right up the street from my house so it's nice to walk up and pay the bill in person
Parents used state farm, I used state farm (Even where I met my wife, she was the agents assitant ) But I have dropped coverage on 3 of the 4 vehicles we own and went with triple A. Had the GN on "Withdrawn from Use", while it sat in my parents garage for almost a year, and when I called to put it back on the road, the rate had gone from $180 every 6 months fully covered to nearly $360 . Just because they're rating system had changed.
They've always been more than fair with any claim, and I think that's why they had to raise their rates.....

It is similiar to "badboy86gn" but he added MC ground effects . Got greedy with the quest for 10's and blew up his engine, & has had nothing but bad luck with the new engine, then his tranny went..
I read that story the other day and I'll be very suprised if that decision is upheld in appeals. Those same cases have been denied for years in Florida and elsewhere. It's going to open a crapstorm for everyone with insurance if its allowed. It won't be long before hurricane insurance is national based like flood. I don't see any other solution.
BTW, State Fraud wind insurance went up to 8k a year for me this year on my homeowners despite a small wind claim and an over 5k deductible. Then they have they try to sell me life insurance. HA!
Well I'm being hosed although not as badly as James is. I was with Allstate since 2000 and I was paying about $450 for HO ins including a $500 deductable for wind. No flood or water damage. I had to file a claim after Charley in Aug 04. It took them almost a year to see things my way and I recieved a check. In Jan 06 I was notified Allstate was dropping me along with 92,000 other home owners. They pawned me off onto one of their smaller companies called Universal and the payment rose to $499 with the same coverage. BTW I payed $66K for my 1300 sq ft shotgun shack back in 2000. So I'm thinking Hmmm whats going on here. November 06 they tell me they are upping the wind damage almost another $1000. Now I'm sitting a little under $1400 and that will probally double as I just refinanced and now my house is at $164K. Want to bet next November it goes up again. There is some talk that FL will start to cover some of the reinsurance for the ins.co now through the state operated ins.co. Whats that all mean? More money out of my pocket of course. We are being squeezed from all sides. On one side we have the ins.co milking us for all they can and on the other the state is going to be looking for ways to pay for all of this.
