I recently put in the Thrasher 92 and before I did this, my car had a Reds 93. My boost was at 16psi. The Thrasher is supposed to operate at 18#'s so do I just give the Adjustable Wastegate 2 turns in to turn up the boost? Obviously if I do it will be 1 turn at a time. I want to maximize what the chip can do. With our cool dense air here in Vancouver and the 94 from the pump, I feel 18#'s is easily attainable. Others in the club have been running 19-20 on the 94 pump gas here. Thanks

Shaun

First take the car out for a spin with the chip in and see what the car runs with the new chip. It should be the same, but with the different fuel map and timing in the chip, you may not have the same boost level as with the RA chip.

With the adj wastegate its almost moot what the chip is set for...

I agree with BB87. Just put it in and see what you get.

The chip is in and........

I'm getting 16#'s. The same before I changed the chip. When I had the stock chip it was 16#'s although I only tried that once. Is there something you can do to the turbo to limit boost? Thanks for the replies...

Not to ask a goofy question, but did you set your Fuel Pressure to run with the Thrasher..? I believe they recommend a baseline of 45psi and then tune from there..

Good luck...!!

OK, now that you have confirmed the boost is the same, tighten the wastegate rod about 1 1/2 turns and verify the boost level again. Keep tightening it as long as you have zero KR.

You total amount of boost will be determined by the actuator. For example mine is tightened all the way and wont go over 20psi. That is what I want to run anyways so I like it that way. If you cannot get to your desired boost level, take the rod apart and cut 1/4" off the end, and then reassemble and see if you can get more boost.

Not a goofy question...

You have to cover all angles. The fuel pressure is set at 45psi. When I had my Dutweiler neck put on, the mechanic said he did something to the turbo to stop it at 16#'s regardless. He told me to get a boost controller but I can't go that route right now. I will check the fuel pressure again to confirm with a different guage but I think I should just turn the adjustable wastegate. Thanks guys..

He may have put a bleeder valve on it. Tell him not to put junk on your car unless he is told;)
