to use or not to use the seals on the exhaust valves? i was told not to because of the high egt's these cars generate. i was told that the seal has been known to hold the valve open and cause painful results. any help soon greatly appreciated.

When I changed mine I didn’t see any seal on the exhaust valves. I am not sure if the 86/87 are different then a hot air. Also with the hot are you need a valve spring removal tool. To get compression over the sleeves. Will you be changing the seal on the car??

thanks frank. yes, i will be doing them on the car. i have a spring compressor that works great that i used to use on 95-96 s-10 blazers that had a recall for valve seals. i used to be able to knock them out in 1 hr, 10 mins. should be able to do the buick in 2-2 1/2 hrs.

if the heads have the factory stock set up...you cant put stem seals on the exhaust valves..the guide must be machined for them...take your time..the #6 cylinder can be a PIA...you might want to remove the heater valve plumbingbefor you get the pass side vcover off...later joe:cool:
