How necessary is the rubber o-ring that goes around the IAC motor when attaching it? Is this needed to seal it properly or will it function fine without it? Thank you very much.

Originally came with a fiber material gasket. Very important to have one as bypass air may leak past the threads and it keeps the IAC Motor pintle itself spaced away from the TB surface correctly.

Make sure it's all very clean, and just bolt it together. And no need to get crazy tightening it down.

The IAC does a reset every time you turn the key off, so things are fine in that reguard.

Hey Cale,

If you can't get one from GM (P/N 25530697), you might be able to find an acceptable substitute in your auto or hardware stores fiber washer assortment.

My local hardware store has all kinds of different size and material fiber washers in their small parts section - I guess they're popular among plumbers.

Even so, I'd tend to get the proper, GM part, to avoid leaks.

:D

Dang, apparently they only sell it in a kit for $15! I can't bring myself to spend $15 for that little thing, haha!
