Can anyone tell me how to determine what turbo is what without using the photoguides on gnttype.org? Maybe a cast number or sometype of reference?

Thanks!

does it have a cast bell?

If yes, look into the cast bell. Is the inside "as cast" or machined.

If the bell is "as cast" and about 1/4" larger than the turbo inlet, its a stock turbo.

If the bell is cast, but machined on the inside to match the turbine inlet, it is likely a TA49.

If the bell is billet and mates evenly with the turbine inlet, it is either a TA49 or larger.

If it's non stock appearing, it could be anything so you need to measure the wheels.

The castings are machined for various size turbos so no casting number will tell you turbo size.

Thanks for the info.. The bell is Billet and the housing is larger than sstock.. Makes for a great start..

Thanks!
