While changing my crank sensor today, I noticed that the one bolt (stud) that holds on the A/C extends out very near the idler pulley. The nut had backed all the way out, and was evidentally rubbing (pulley kept it from falling off). Does this simply mean that I need to go to a 1" shorter serpentine belt to raise the pulley slightly? I thought I always got stock sizes before.

If I remember correctly, it's the long stud that goes into the aluminum bracket. The A/C compressor then slides on to it (so it's at the 9 o'clock position on the compressor). Even if I were to tighten the nut, it sure looks like that pulley would rub the very end of the stud.

You can always cut all those extra threads off the stud. That's what I did for additional clearance to my 3.5" MAF pipe.
