Just brought home a dark blue '03 Maxima with automatic and 19K miles.

I have this strange urge to procure a coffee can...

Nice car. I wish I could afford to trade my 98 for a new one. You'll enjoy it. Keep it stock:)

someday i'd like to get a little cheap civic and just for the fun of it take a real foldgers coffee can and duct tape it to the exhaust, really botch the job up too. spray paint stripes on the side, no masking tape, just freehand it. cut the springs so it almost rides on the ground and maybe paint a fire extinguisher blue and put it in the back. just to see how much i can sell it for. if only i had money to flush down the drain like that. its a waste i know, but what would be better than having someone look at it and, dude, thats sick!

NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

How could you do this! Just kidding..... I am actually very impressed with the Maxima's and by the way, Vortec make a Supercharger for it. All in all handling and performance was great and the only reason we didn't get it, is because the wife wanted a new Z71 Suburban....Go figure!

My sister bought a new'93 maxima and I bought it from her in '99 with 46k miles. Changed the timing belt shortly after I got it cause it was 6 years old. It now has 105k and has never gave me a bit of trouble. Needs a paint job this summer. I also have a '89 nissan truck that I bought new that has 240k and never had the valve cover off. So I really like Nissan, just wish I could afford the new Titan.

Go figure indeed!

We had a Z71 Suburban that we sold not too long ago and this Max is the replacement.

Now if there was only some way to convert it to RWD and mount the engine in it correctly....

Yeah, but I still have my GN.

My Mom has a '99 and I love it. When school is out I am actually gonna be in the market for one possibly. 2000 or so. The only bitch I have with her's is the seats. She has the plain cloth seats and they suck on long drives so I will look for one with leather and a better set of seats. Only problem has been an o2 sensor at 70K. Pretty peppy cars really and they seem to get better everytime they up the HP. The 99 has 220 hp so I'd bet the 03 is a big step up.

The '03 has 255hp - almost as much as a '99+ Mustang GT! But a lot less torque.

The '04 has 265hp! But they're too damn ugly for me.

I wanted to get an Infiniti G35. But they're quite expensive. So the wife agree on the Max. It beats the hell out of a Camry, which is what she initially wanted.

She asked me why the Maxima was better than the Camy and Accord. I told her the Camry and Accord are nice, sensible, family sedans. And the Maxima is a nice, sensible, family sedan for people who like cars.

Well, since I'm not spending a lot of money like I would have on the G35, I'm going to get a Harley-Davidson VRSCB. I wanted the FXDWG, but I think I'll like the V-Rod better.

Very good description of the Maxima. Good pull, not too shabby handling and a nice interior. Kinda sport-oriented family-conscious all in one package.

I have actually spent quite a bit of time on the VRod and all I an say is: SCHWEET! I had wanted the FXDX but after riding the VROD I'm sold. This one had Sampson pipes too and arguably the loudest Harley I've ever heard. NIGHT and day difference from stock. Those who complain about the VROD sounding too Japanese has never heard one with a good aftermarket pipe :-) Intoxicating!

very cool car:cool: --but i heard the torque-steer is unbelievable-------should make a great DD.

Well, I'm not into the "LOUD" thing. I'll be quite happy with "quiet". ;)

How was the torque? The Twin Cam 88 is rated at 85.0 ft. lbs. @ 3000 rpm.

Look how the Revolution engine compares:

115HP @ 8500 RPM
74 FT-LB of torque @ 7000 RPM
9000 RPM redline

Is it like the Honda S2000, where you have to rev the piss out of it to get any performance?

It's a neat sound stock as well, as I'm sure you've heard them stock. Personally I'd opt for a much mellower pipe than Alecia (yeah, a 21 year old girl owns the one I rode) had on her's.

Power-wise it's all good from idle on. Just strong torque all over the place, quite un-Harley-like once reved though. Instead of giving up the ghost by 5K it's just pulls and pulls. Here's was brand new the few times I rode it so it didn't get pushed all that hard, but it was very impressive nonetheless. Great riding position too. It's looks like it wouldn't be but I loved it. I had a newer Sportster last summer that had drag bars and forward controls and hated it as I was used to Sport bikes but the VROD is just an all around cushy b*tch

E mail me and I'll send you a pic of the one I rode.

Wish i could afford one...

The torque steer on the 03's is terrible. They're also really unstable at 90mph. The 04's are alot better as far as power an stability. The 04's body handles the power alot better than the 03's do. Still the FWD makes for some interesting driving.

so how does the maxima rate compared to the all mighty 5.0 mustang:D ;)

im sure the maxi pad errr maximommy is a nice car :P

You'll probably laugh at me, but I haven't driven the Max yet!

But I'll tell you one thing, my poor, beat-up Mustang has 160000 miles on the clock, and much of the first 100000 were kind of brutal. The car is a basket case now and is literally falling apart. It needs a lot of work that I keep neglecting.

Now that we've got the Max, the GN is going into the garage to rest for a while. I've got some parts (valve springs, GNX cluster, alcohol kit) that have been sitting around for a long time that need to be installed in it. I didn't want to mess with it as long as the wife had to drive it almost every day.

I daily drive the Mustang, which is my Redneck Beater HotRod from Hell. If you saw the poor thing, you'd wonder why I don't have a mullet. But when I get my V-ROD, the Mustang will be given a well-deserved break. It has served me well for 160000 miles and 15 years.

I really don't know what to do with it. I put a lot of money into it, but I probably wouldn't get what the fuel system alone is worth. I want to restore it, but I don't know if I'm that committed.

That kind of funny you guys decided to part with the Z71 and we ended up getting one:D I kind of wish she did get the Maxima due to the fact the gas milage really sucks with the surburban. We have two kids, so this was the biggest reason behind it.
