I have heard from alot of people that you should not use gaskets on the headers. I was reading ATRs direction and it does not say you have to use them but it does have a section that says if you use our copper gaskets ...bla...bla..bla....
My question is of the people that have installed the ATR headers please chime in to let me know if they installed without gaskets and did the stay sealed.
The direction also say use anti sieze on the header bolts for ease of future removal. What anit sieze do you recommend?

:D

Thanks

for atr headers there is no need to use gaskets. just clean the mating surfaces and apply a light smear of high temp copper rtv around the ports.
there are two versions of atr headers though. i have the rectangular ports on mine. ive seen some with oval ports that did require the use of the felpro 1400.

regular anti seize works fine on the bolts.

surej

I never got mine to seal without gaskets.. I had the best luck with two felpro 1400s on each side.

When I had an ATR DS header, I used a gasket. No leaks. I also used regular good ole' Permatex anit-sieze on the bolts.

Good luck.

I spoke to Jack C on this subject on Friday, he runs the copper gaskets with high temp silicone.

I also run the Copper gaskets with high temp silicone..

Only way to fly.....;)

My directions said to use the coppers with aluminum heads and the 1400's with iron heads.

My instructions say to use ATRs RP555 and RP556 thick copper annealed reusable gaskets but not the Felpro 1400s.
I just bought them brand new from ATR. I would think that for $795 they would inlude the stinking gaskets needed to install them:mad:
I will be giving them a call tomorrow to see what they say.

Did they come with the sucky clamps to hold the crossover to the headers? The ones with the bolt and nut? Throw those in the trash!

T-bolt V band stainless clamps. Kenne Bell has em. Not long ago I got some for a used pair of KB headers I was installing on a job I was doing. They were like 15$ a piece but I've had mine for 10yrs. Taken em off a thousand times! They fit my ATR headers mint.
