This has happened to me three times since owning the car. The first time was when I backed out of my driveway. As soon as the front end came down off the curb the car shut off.

Second time was coming to a stop at a yield on a hill, just shut off.

And then today. I started the car, first time in about a month. Pulled it out of the garage and let it sit and run for about 10 minutes. Then I took it up and got some gas, came back home picked everybody up and headed out. We stopped at a Wawa, and on our way out coming to a stop at a redlight while applying the brakes the car shut off.

I thought something was funny from the very beginning of the day. When I would apply my brakes coming to a stop or yeild the car would go almost silent, and I'd have to give it some gas just to tell if it was still running or not.

All scanmaster numbers look good, no malfunctions or anything. Fuel pressure is around 32-34 line on.

Check out the engine grounds on the back of the engine. Look here and here for some tips on this.

You don't, by any chance, have an alarm system with a goofy kill switch centered around the brake pedal...do you?

Thanks for those links, that was one of the area's I was thinking the problem was coming from. Now it's time to investigate.

No kill switch.

My Dad mentioned to me that carburated cars have an anti-stall dashpot, and I should have something equilvalent.

The closest equivalent on our cars is the IAC. Works FAR better than the vacuum-reliant dashpot, since it's controlled by the ECM.

Good luck...let us know what happens.

Check your battery hot wire to the starter. I've seen this a number of times. Over a period of time due to the close proximity to the down pipe, it gets hot and sometimes melts the insulation. It very possibly may be shorting to the pipe or some other metal member when you apply the brakes. Check it very carefully, You cannot always tell by just looking at the wire.

Good luck
