i bought this 85 t-type back in february and it has a 87 drivetrain in it-

the preivious owner says it was a JW convertor, and my Q is are they a good convertor and do they have a website??

its a 4000 stall 9inch non lock up and has a bolt together ring on the outer edge-

also was wondering if there is a rating "percentage of slippage"

the car went 119mph on 19 psi of boost with a te45a turbo

can anyone enlighten me on this

thanks in advance

No they are not a good converter ,and not sure on the website.Would need your RPM that you went through at to figure out % of slip.Generally the reason they are junk is the % of slip on there converters is usually in the 12-14 range which is high.Everyone I know that had one of their converters and changed it always went faster with the replacement.I'd get a 9/11 from Bruce.Just my opinion though.Besides I owed Bruce one salesmen pitch, hee hee.

yeah, im pretty impressed with my 9-11 convertor that is in my silver limited-
thats probably what ill go with when i pull the motor for a clean-up

anyone else have experiance with the JW convertors?
thanks

They have some good parts but thats not one of them.
As brian from above knows they cant even build a $3k powerglide that will stay together.

If the car is a weekend/track car, I would go with an A/C 9" 3800 or if you have a few more bucks to spend, (ATI) is prob the best N/L you can buy.. I have heard really good things about bruces 9/11 if you were looking for a lockup. IMO the Precision lockup is a great converter, But to (Heavy) for my taste.;)
Good luck,
Matt

im definitely going to go back to a lockup convertor, and not sure 5 disc precision, or the 9-11

D5~46LBS
9-11 36 LBS
9.5 SINGLE DISK 32LBS

im kinda partial to the vigilante cause of 4lbs difference, but i can save 300 bucks by using the 9-11

guess i need to start cleaning out the garage---

anyone want to buy a JW convertor?????
