my scanmaster picks up knock inbetween shift points mainly 1 to 2 and sometimes 2 to 3 rd is there anything to do to get rid of it cuz even though its not knock in the motor it still reduces timing and i got a good chip so the timing comes right back??? or am i just kinda screwed

2-4 degrees on the shift is normal but, should go away instantely after shift

It could be from tire spin. For some reason, my car runs its best MPH when I get exactly 1.2 KR at the 2-3 shift??

Is it healtht for an engine to get knock at all? Obviously no knock is the best, but is 1-2 safe for engine life?

ledzapp no knock is best. Even a small amount of knock sends bad harmonics through the engine a pounds the pistons and recip assem .

Now the slight knock on the shift is the tremor from the aggresive/performance shift inherent to our cars especially 1-2 shift.
The knock sensor sits on the back of the engine inches from the bellhousing and is design to pickup in a certain window of frequency(hz) and the window it picks up normally only occurs when knock is happening in the engine and this tells the ECM to pull back the timing to ward off the knock. Tremors from hard/snappy shifts will also register 2-4 of knock retard KR(timing retard) momentarily on the sensor.
But will go away immediately ..if it stays then 1-2 degrees of KR is bad. So through a long winded explanation :D 1-2 degrees is bad but, 4 or more sustain KR is an area of greater concern i/e lift off the go pedal.

While not the solution you're asking for, all of my retard on shifts went away with the addition of HR Parts motor and trans mounts.
