Most all GM knock sensor look the same, came someone tell me why they have so many different part no's for a part that serves the same purpose for all vehicles and what, if any, difference would it make to go with a knock sensor designed for another vehicle.

Thanks, Pete

They are in fact tuned for very specific frequencies. And some vary in electrical properties. Crossbreeding them, can lead to disasterious results.

Is there any other vehicle other than the GN that cross breeding would be benificial.

If you want to try fine tuning things that close, then you'd need to run a series of controlled experiments, and try all the different sensors, and filters, to see which performed to the spec., you wanted.

I've run a series of tests doing that for another GN application, and in all honesty is was alot of work for little gain.

And the knock sensor is so easily fooled, that you still have to read the plugs to see what's going on anyway, as the HP levels rise.

K+S Knockguards are so far the best answer, I've heard of.
