ok guys i need help bad i have a new motor with about 5000 miles on it, i have been running rotella and i changed the oil every 1500 miles heres my problem i have a low knock thats sounds like its coming from the bottom rear of the motor and it RPM sensitive at idle i dont hear it but if you give the car a blip on the throttle it gets loud and as the motor settles i quits down and i assume it gos way as i dont hear it ive check the converter bolts and its tight im really hopeing its not a rod bolt

U checked the TC bolts but did u check the Flexplate for cracks. They are bad about cracking from the bolts to the perforated holes around the wheel. Mine had me ready to tear into the motor and it was the flexplate cracked. Get a light remove the inspection cover and look real good.

hey thanks for posting i checked everything real good we think its a wrist pin

ok sooooooooo we torn the engine down and it was perfect so we put it back together now heres the fun part the damn noise is back I'm ready to set it on fire and calm the insurrance could it be the converter i have a turbo 400 with a none lock up 3500 rpm stall converter alright guys start naming of stuff for me to check

Check the starter gear to flywheel clearance. I have a knock due to the gear not retracting.

Any word on the flex plate condition? No signs of cracks around each bolt hole? Describe the way the knock sounds, is it like metal being hit with a hammer? Or like when something is scraping? Plastic on metal sound? Etc etc. If it's more of a scraping sound, it could be the crank sensor rubbing on the reluctor ring on the balancer. I can spot that sound 50ft away just hearing a Turbo Buick idling. Had to deal with that problem on both of my old cars. Also, what is the condition of your cam sensor? Was it replaced when the motor was done or just reused the stock one? I have had flywheel bolts come loose and sound just like a rod knock. Scared the stuff that hits the fan out of me. Tightened them up and inspected the flywheel and all was well. Was the converter new when installed or used?
Just throwing more stuff out there, hope some of it helps.

Patrick
