A long time ago I was changing the fluid on my GN. When I put the pan back on I accidently snapped the head of one of the bolts off because I torqued it way too tight :( (idiot I know)

So I tried to drill the thing out and rethread the hole with a tap and die. I got a bolt to stay in there but I cannot tighten it up completely and the pan leaks about a couple drops of trans fluid a day now (you guys that think a couple drops of oil leaking is bad...I have that and now the trans!). I am not sure what I can do now. I tried everything from teflon tape to silicon sealant to different bolts. Nothing works. My garage floor is always covered with drops of trans fluid and it's driving me nuts. Is there anything I can use to help keep that pan tight with the trans via some clamp or something around the lips? All the other bolts are tight. I can't believe one bolt missing would make the pan leak. Any suggestions are appreciated.

How about a helicoil kit.You can prolly adapt it back down to the stock size bolt.

Yup Heli coil, time sert, perma coil, any of those will work. Worse case you have to go up a bolt size depending on how much you have already drilled out. I think Napa sells perma coil. Prolly cost you about $20 for the kit.

Yep 1 Bolt will do it, mine had one come loose 2 weeks after it was rebuilt, and it leaked. The a few more loosened up, I had to change the cork gasket because it wouldent seal up again.

cool guys i might try that...does anyone know the exact thread size of the stock trans bolts? 8/32? i am not sure which heli coil to get...

check the edges of your pan and be sure it is not tweaked, if it is you possibly might be able to straighten it or better yet replace the pan and TORQUE the bolts to 10-12 ft lbs using the proper gasket. Ron

Thd is M8. stripped one myself and ended up just screwing in a 5/16 which held;) I know its a hack but if the helicoil doesn't work, just use a long bolt, thread it all the way through and use a nut on the back! I wouldnt recommend this for more than (1) bolt.
