Ok, Im hooking up the remaining wires on my buick and trying to clean up under the hood. I have a wire that is either black with a brown strip or black with an orange stripe. I cannot tell if its either. Anyhow, it comes from under the speedocable on the drivers side and cannot tell where it leads to. I am curious because it is sitting in the engine compartment and reaches to about the fan relays, and it has the wire strands sticking out of it like it was connected to something. Anyone got a clue???

Kind of sounds like the underhood light? Is it a thick wire that comes from under the wiper motor area? It should have a black connector on the end but obviously that is no longer true.

i cant tolerate advising someone to do such a hazardous act of debauchery! please conserve jb weld. it is a priceless commodity.

please extend the wire and connect it directly to the negative post on the battery. be sure to solder and heatshrink all connections. it may help to replace all fusible links with 10 awg multistrand wire.

Sure its not the hot wire to the fuel pump? If you apply 12v to it, the fuel pump will go. Just a thought.
