light ticking at shift points?

only noticed this today as i had my radio off for some reason. before the car shifts into second, there is a ticking sound(not exhaust leak, i nkow what that sounds like) it only does it then, not during any other circumstances.....its like a soft qucik ticking sound...any ideas?

Keep an eye on your boost gauge when it happens...it might be knock from too much boost.

it happens under no boost, just accelerating lightly from a light. adn theres nothing on the knock guage

mine does it also.about 2200 rpm.but mine will do it if you are stopped and in park and rev it up to 2200 or right before it shifts.sounds like a lifter or rocker arm noise on mine.it's done it for 3 years.????

wow, 3 years and nothing has gone seriously wrong? that a bit of good news i guess. it doesnt really sound like anything mechanical, its more of an almost electrical tick. its hard to describe...

Audible knock can sound like that. Do you have a scantool? Any KR?

When mine knocks, it sounds like those little throw-n-snap things you buy from the fireworks store are bouncing around in the motor. Best description I can make.

yes, there is no knock on the sm or the scantool, and it happens under zero boost, i cant hear it under boost during hard acceleration

Still could be an exhaust leak from somewhere. Run a can of top engine cleaner through it and make sure no smoke comes from the headers to be sure.

Could be valvetrain noise too.

What lifters are you using?
My car does the same thing and I believe it to be valvetrain noise.

Bad motor mount? Bad transmission mount? check them

EGR valves have been known to tick. Plug the line going to it and try it.
