I have been getting mixed opinions on Lock Tite for main studs or not. Some have advised to just hand tighten the studs with oil on the threads. Others suggest Lock Tite to prevent the studs backing out. What are your experiences? Thanks, counterman.

Different theories on that subject

The old school was to to use permanent (red) Loctite and torque the caps to 10 Ft. Lbs, and let sit 24 hours--now the studs become part of the block. (Must use heat to remove or take the chance of pulling the threads out) Now it seems that the thought is to use ARP lube and tighten had tight.

I use engine oil and hand tighten.

I've seen one come out when it was finger tightened.

Now I use blue loc-tite. I would rather have a piece of mind.
