Curiously, there is a thread in the "Brakes, Suspensions, Tires and Wheels" section that was started by "disco stu"called "Lower is gooder" . Seeing that, and preferring cars that sit higher, I started one calling it "lower is bad" only to find out that after several posts (18 to be exact), my thread ends up being moved into the "lounge" section...:(...nice!

Claude.

What,,,,,,,, I left a link.........

No really, it's just not tech material. I need to go through and clean a bunch of that crap up. It's on the list.

I like the lowered regals. Its nice to have a car that handles on the road, as opposed to having a drag car that you can't drive aggessively on the streets because of unpredictable handling.

I like both the lowered pro touring look and the drag race, street/strip look. They both have their purpose. I've seen many nice examples of both styles.

As always, there are extremes that look like crap on either...so whichever look or style you're going for should be done with good taste.

My next turbo Buick will definitely be pro touring....something like Scot Ws car is what I'd love to have.

I dropped mine a little less than an inch and kept the rake you are talking about. I don't have the slammed look, but it handles far better than stock. I actually put lowering springs in the car for the higher spring rate, then used spacers to bring it up just slightly. Most people don't even think my car is lowered at all, but we had four TR's together last night and mine did set slightly lower than the rest. We each have our own tastes when it comes to cars.

Nice T! Looks just like mine! Love the wheels!

lowriders... high riders... and lowrods... it all doesnt matter, if they look nice and haul ass... its a winner in my book. may not seem like it, but even donks are pretty quick.

For a while now, I've noticed that the "in" thing is to lower cars for a "slammed to the ground" look. Personnally, I've tried to get used to that tendency, but I still do not like it. I can't help but find that it makes a car look like it has old, sagged springs!
To me, a true muscle car always had the rear end a little higher than stock, with tires as big as the fender wells would accept, giving the car a forward rake without having to do anything special to the front.
Aside from looking like sagged springs, it gives a car has the same attitude as a kid wearing his baseball cap backwards in his "ricer" Honde Civic, which is far from ideal for someone who wants a car with a mean stance!...
Am I the only one feeling like this? To me, that is definitely NOT the "Drag racing, muscle car" look! :frown: I couldn't care less about the supposedly "road-racing-touring" look, especially for a muscle car. That is best left to the jap and euro cars. True muscle cars were meant to go STRAIGHT, like from a stop light to another!...
I'm not pointing at anyone's car in particular, just saying that a lowered car is definitely not for me.

I don't like the lowered thing either especially when they, also add the 20 inch rims,I think "Ghetto" Is the word you were searching for.
Also not thrilled with a jacked up look either. But if it's a big loud Heavily modified monster tr,then big rears + maybe some skinnies up front on centerlines just look right, Kinda completes the package.
But a stock wheeled ,stock ride height, shiny black gn rolling by is a sight to behold. ,but with lots of extra hp of course.
It's too bad the t-types didn't have diff wheel options from the factory,i never was thrilled with the turbine wheels on anything,(Tho i like the tr turbines better the the fox mustang ones)(Turbines must have been an 80's thing) I actually hated the 87 -90 mustang gt's,because of turbine style wheels, then one day i saw 1 with the new for 91 pony wheels + suddenly liked the cars.It would be kind of cool if they had 2 or 3 diff wheel options back then on the t-types,so that today the cars would be set apart from each other not just in interior + exterior colors + trim levels, but also different wheel types, to add to the mix, without going to aftermarket, which in most cases,(not always) I don't think add to the look of these cars,+ most of the time for me, take away from the look. I look at some cars + just go, what were they thinking. Some of the plans that i was told were in store for my car ,before i bought it made me want to cry.

As long as it's done right (not chopped springs) and the wheel and tire combo is there lower can't be beat for handeling and an aggressive look. The drag racing look is impossibly slammed beyond what any street car could get away with, look at pro stock, funny car, nitro, etc... The one negative is it does make a car hard to live with on a day to day basis. Really though, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I like this stance.

The Spoolfool 2 cents.

The motivation for what I've always considered a respectable drag car (I consider a Turbo Buick a drag car) has been the stance of a prostock car. This is a car that has it's center of gravity as low as possible, with a big tire stuffed "inside" the rear wheel well. This look says to me, "All business". The 80's, stink bug look, seamed more of a street-freak, disco, shag-van, Scooby-Doo's mystery machine, fashion statment to me.

Here's some pics of my lowered car. It has 1" lower springs at all four corners. I run a 275-60-15 (28" tall) tire out back. This brings the back end back up to the stock height, with a big tire tucked inside. I've kept the stock size tire up front, which drops the nose 1". This doesn't sound like much, but it handles just as good, if not better than stock. It gives it a slight rake, and leaves the line, like Charlie Sheen after a crack pipe.:D

I say "Lower is gooder" if done in taste.;)

Happy spooling.

It must be a generation gap thing...

Not only do I like the lowered look in many cases, but I think the Regal body makes for some of the most bad-ass lowered cars of all time! (Just look at "Slammed Regal Picture Thread)

GN's look downright treacherous lowered, whether on slicks n' skinnies or big diameter street wheels. The stink-bug look looks goofy on any car made after the mid-seventies IMO...

Yeah, right side action shots are a little more flattering, from a Billie Bob point of view.
Mike, do you have any left side launch shots? You have a perfect static stance, IMO.

Thanks Don.

Only have launch shots from the right side. As this is the only option for most of the tracks around here.
