I put my new LS1 MAF and MAf translator on the car and the AF readings only go to 237 at WOT. Anybody have any ideas why it doesn't go to 255?
I am running a little over 15psi with no more than 1-2 degrees of KR.
Thanks, James.

I'll assume you're still running the RA93 chip. So, what are ALL the buttons and switches inside the translator set too??

I beleive the first 3 dip switches are set to on and the last is off. The dials have not been changed. I set it up as the directions said. Yes, I am running the RA 93 chip.

what scan tool are you using to read this, the translator actually reads up to 2x255 but you can only read up to 255 still on your scan tool. I may be off here but I'm pretty sure you double the readings when you have the translator.

I am using a SM 2.1. I haven't heard anything about the MAF translator causing different readings.

First test would be to check the air filter and clean it.

Second would be maybe one pass without it if you are brave.

Third get the octane and turn up the boost 2 psi. to see if it maxes out.

100 unleaded should allow you to do that test.

Need the extender chip to extend the readings 2X.

237 could be normal for your car at that boost as Bob referred to.

from what i understand it has to do with our ECM can only read up to 255 but the translator tricks the computer and it is actually reading double that.

I've noticed this on my car also...looked at some runs at the track recorded on Tlink and the MAF readings are around 237-245...this is with an LS1 MAF...Extender chip...27-28 PSI boost...116 octane
only...since the car is running so good I really didn't think anything
about it until I saw this post...I thought the number Tlink sees for MAF is halved with the Extender so the numbers seemed OK...am I wrong...should they be 255...

oh ok my bad I thought he had the trans+ set up, sorry need to pay more attention.

OK, I thought that it had to go to 255 when you ran WOT or the MAF wasn't reading full and correctly. If it is just a matter of not maxing it out then I am fine with that. Just wanted to make sure sure something wasn't faulty. I wish we had 100 unleaded around here. 91 octane is the best we have in amarillo, TX. K&N is brand new. I will try and add some Xylene to a 1/2 tank and see if I can get a pound or two more and see if that changes it.

I think as Bob and others have indicated, you're OK. When you're able to safely turn the boost up, you will probably see a higher reading.
My 87 only reads about 245 at 15-16# of boost.

Maxing it out at 255 too soon is a bad think. Computer can no longer accurately meter fuel once the MAF is maxed out. You're flowing more air, but the computer thinks it's only flowing 255, starts to lean out up on the top end at high boost, etc. NOT GOOD. That's the reason so many folks have opted over to the Extender chip. To "extend" the maf's range and properly meter fuel at all flow levels up to 512gps maf flow. Higher with the Exetender Extreme (not needed for you yet).

Makes perfect sense. I had people before tell me that if it didn't show 255 at WOT then the MAF wasn't reading right. But your explenation makes more sense. I was upset for a little while thinking I had spent all that money and it didn't work. It's nice to know the money wasn't wasted. Thanks for the help and enlightenment!
