I had been using the stock ecm modded for 72# injs with a screenless MAF for quite awhile. I always had a horrible tip-in problem. If sitting at a stop sign and you tried to go to 1/4 throttle, the car would die. I had to EASE into the throttle to get the car to move without killing it. This was even more fun at the track when doing a burnout or staging. Another prob was if you were cruising down the road at say 40 mph and let off the throttle, you could watch the rpms drop to 300.The faster I would go, the worst it got. It was real treat when approaching a stoplight. Even more fun when going thru the traps. Half the time the car would die and it was a mfr to try and get it started again. Starting was an entirely different monster all together. I would have to crank the car sometimes 30 seconds to get it to fire. If the car was warm and you wanted to start it back, you could just forget that. It was if the car was flooded. I had to wait until the car cooled off before starting again. Then once started, the rpms would be all over the place, oscillating between 700 to 1800 rpms. We tried everything, at least a dozen different MAFs, coilpacks, IACs, plugwires, chips, ecms, and just about every sensor on the car. Nothing made a difference, and I actually ran a 10.68 @ 128 with this turd Then I hooked up with Steve Y. I bought and installed the ME-R. This is the mafless version. It's like having a brand new GM car. The throttle response is unbelievable. Acouple of days ago I was sitting at a stoplight and I decided to hit it pretty hard........WOW.......The car shot up to 22lbs and when it hit second gear the rear tires went up in smoke. The car now sits at 900 rpms and doesn't go up and down. When I let off the throttle, no matter the speed or how hard I'd been in the throttle, the rpms would drop to 900 and stay there. Now when I go to start the car all I have to do is hit the key once and it fires, almost instantly. I could be driving the car all day, shut it off and it will still fire right back up. I also have to say that the support for this product is great. It's not like some vendors whereas once they get your money, they are done with you.....This is the best product I have ever encountered. I would reccomend this to anyone. I might stack all my MAFs in a pile and start a bigass fire and roast some weenies.........

Save me a MAF (or a weenie, preferably a bratwurst). I'm leaving in about 1.5 hours. See you down there. I'm in the Travellodge, red Grd Cherokee.

Great post! A friend had his GN on the dyno doing some tuning the other day, and since his chip would not read more than 255 grams per sec from the MAF, he had a hard time tuning a/f on top. Going to be putting my car on the dyno soon, and anticipate the same problem. (not sure how Eric's chip addresses that. Have to ask)
Anyway, thanks for the real world results.

MaxEffort R is THEEE BEST CHIP out there! I have one in my car too. I had Reds chip in there, swapped it out for the ME-R... and WOW!!! Night and day difference. No more slow spooling, idle hunting, poor performance. My TE-63-1 spools like a stocker now. PLUS I can program out that stupid knock at launch!

Well worth the money IMHO.:D ;)

I have a ME-R and it's the best thing I have ever did to my Buick.
And best money I've ever spent.

dam you described my car to a t! same tip in stumble, same sucky up and down idle, same crappy screenless stock maf. i gotta figure out how i'm gonna set the ME-R with no ac before i buy.

Bigdaddy, I'm w/you! Had almost the same set up (72's,screenless MAF. Reds chip and a horrible tip in stumble) I know where your coming from w/ the burn out thing (check my sig./ 10.66@129). I have almost as many chips as Carter has pills. Anyhow, I haven't had the car on a drive yet 'cause of rain----just finished the ME-R install Monday. I can say that it idles much, much, much better, and the off idle stumble is HISTORY. KUDO'S Steve!

HEY

Matt87......I also have no AC.........I just ran a hot wire from the fuse box thru a switch and onto the ac pin on the ecm, when I hit the switch, the ecm thinks the ac is on.........this is the sh&t

Yeah Maxx Effort is the _HIT! His customer service is second to none. Steve never hesitates to lend a hand or give some advice. I called him once and he was on vacation and he STILL took the time to help me get it right. "I aint gettin off the phone til your cars running" Those are his words! Theres no vendor out there with that type of service!

Theres no vendor out there with that type of service!

So true... Steve was nice enough to have me stop by HIS HOUSE! to help me tune my car... What OTHER vendor can do that?

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Like I said B4.. BEST $ I ever spent on my Buick!

How 'bout a few of us with ME-R, load our cars up, head to Michigan, and wear Steve out with questions at his local track on a test and tune night???........I bet you Steve would just sh%# if about ten of us showed up in his driveway one morning........just a thought......
