Yes, it broke!

I was out driveing around sunday night, i was going to visit a friend in his garage. at a redlight i thought that i should give half thottle until 2:nd gear, then give pedal to the metal =P

The weather was perfect for a turbocharged car, about 10 degrees celsius, moisty, very oxygen rich air.

drove of with 0 psi start, got right up to 10 psi, waited for second, and when it shifted i gave full throttle, 20 psi, and the car went like shot from a cannon, it have never been that fast it felt like....

but just before third, it begun to make a strange noise from the engine so i let off pedal and put it in neutral so the revs went down to idle and thought ****! this is not good.

My first thought was that an hydralic lifter or a pushrod had been bended or so.....

drove slowly from my friends garage to home......

Opened both valvecovers, and in the left side i saw that the rocker arm shaft was not as it should....

i'm wondering what the torque in the bolts for the rocker arm shaft should be?

Those bolts who sat there was hard as hell to unscrew, and the left rocker arm shaft has "cracked" from just a screw hole.....

if you look in the link above, you will come to a swedish forum, and in the first post (mine) at the bottom there will be an attachment thats called "vipparmsaxel.jpg" click on the link and you'll see a pict of the shaft........

i'm thinking about the standard rocker arm shaft, if i should get 2 new ones, or if i should get roller rocker arm with rocket ratio 1.55 or 1.6 or 1.65, how do i know which one is the one for me?

there should be an 206/206 cam in the engine, other valves, and other pistons? How much more lift is possible?

Or should i go with standard?

Best regards! Christer

T/A performance has some real nice HD rocker shafts. They are direct replacements. Brian

They only get 25 Ft/lbs... the sets from Mike @ tubobuick_s.com are on sale right now and an excellent piece for the money.

Thanks Guys!!

But i live in sweden, and the swedish government want a part of the "cookie", so if the price is $100 for example, i will have to pay about $160 before i have it in my hands..... That inkludes toll, tax and shipping.

I'll check with a swedish car parts dealer first, see what they can come up with......

Thanks again for the help with finding Torque spec!

i think they were more than 25 ft/lbs, i used 1/4 tools, but i almost s.h.i.t my pants when i was trying to loosen the rocker arm shaft bolts...... i barely had the strenght to loosen them.....

so i hope they were to tight earlier.

Best regards, Christer.

Got new parts now.......

from TRW, and the rocker arm shaft seems to be more solid than the one which was mounted before.........

but the screwholes are a little bit bigger, so i wonder if i should get other bolts which are little larger, but with the same thread size.

someone know what thread size a rocker arm shaft bolt has?

and another question......
it seems that i have adjustable pushrods, and i guess that i'll have to adjust them, i know how to, but what is the measurement between rocker arm and valve?

A last question.......

on my new rocker arms, there are three in one bag, and three in another bag, those are marked "L" and "R", what is that for?

And the price? oh, yes.........

About $239.50, Rocker arm assemblies for both banks, 1 shaft, 6 rocker arms, 6 retainers in a package (got two packs)

Best Regards
