at 87K, my stock MAF has officially taken a dump. Its been acting up for awhile now and ive been avoiding the issue, but now its official. My question is, what are the issues with going mafless. A buddy of mine is selling a MAFTpro, and ive been contemplating buying it and also treating myself to a Big Mouth from Mark along with one of his 4" MAF pipes. What issues will I run into fellas, see my current set-up in the sig.

i dont see a problem. from what i understand, you have more control over the whole situation. i havent seen a person unhappy with theirs yet. i think its a better setup than using a maf myself. if i had the money, id be mafless tomorrow.

That was my first intention, but based on the many functions the MAFT Pro has over the standard translator, I wanted to look further into the subject. I can get the MAFT Pro for a great price and it seems like a better choice for the future. Plus I reallylike the look of the big 4" Mafless pipe with the Big Mouth CAI under the hood:cool: . What im really asking is...

1.) What exactly is needed for this setup?
AND
2.) What are the pros/cons?

Thanks a lot everyone.

Hi,
Pros are adjustability and more potential power, cons are lack of originality and ,perhaps, driveability issues. Have fun!

I would like more info also on going Mafless... not a whole lot of info out there that I could find.

I highly recomend going mafless. My car has never run better. I have not found one con so far. If you can grab a pro for cheap, just do it. You will never look back. Pro is tracking Idle, cruise and wot.
You don,t need anything special to get the pro going accept for some solder, shrinktape and a tourch style butane lighter.

Bottom line, the Pro is awsome. I now have absolutly no turbo lag. The car is so throttle responsive, its scary.
Another great place for info on the pro is here

Do it!

The device you are considering is the next generation of the translator...An order of magnatude more capable in terms of tuning and overall performance.

It may be a little more difficult to install and tune though (Mike Licht has posted that it is not for beginners). Without doubt, its going to deliver the most performance wise....Question is, can you master the device (is your mental acumen sufficient for the challange ;) ).

:)

The question I'd ask is how the MAFTPro interfaces/augments the new data logger coming out soon.... :)

I use a speed density system (no MAF) on the race car and I have come across no reason at all to have to use a MAF. I assume the MAFTPro converts you to speed density fuel control? If so, go for it.

So what would be the easiest way to go mafless? I think Im going to call up full throttle on monday and discuss it with them to see what all I will need and what kind of time to expect for tuning... I dont really have any time to spend with this car, but Im sure I could find some time somewhere since Im out of school until Jan 16:wink:

Just pick up a Maftpro. Thats all you really need. You can add on stuff as you go. The other way is with a full blown aftermarket management system like fast or bigstuff. The learning curve for that can sometimes last a while. The Maftpro is much more easy in my book.
